Dollface, thank you so much for posting all of this information.

My head is spinning and I'm in tears.

I've had gorgeous Juliana Marguiles-type curls since puberty. People complimented my hair constantly. I was not born with the gift of a beautiful face so my hair was literally one of the only parts of my body that I liked.

Before I had the Paraguard put in in 2003, I did lots and lots of research and chose the Paraguard because it did not have hormones and it seemed to be the best choice of bc for me overall. I never found anything indicating the copper had negative side effects.

I've been losing my hair for about five or six years now though it's been much worse in the past couple of years. I thought it was because I turned 40 or I was having thyroid issues (nothing showed up on blood tests) or I had Adrenal exhaustion (couldn't afford the testing). For the past few months, my hair has gotten even worse; the curl is disappearing and the straight hair is thin and frizzy and strange looking. It is devastating to me.

I can't imagine any kind of new style that would work with 75% oddly-shaped curly hair and 25% sort-of straight, frizzy hair. I don't even know how to care for it anymore because nothing I do makes it look any better. I feel like shaving my head – I'll be even more unattractive but at least I wouldn't be heartbroken every time I look in the mirror.

I have a message into my gyno and plan on having the IUD removed ASAP. Right now, I'm not in a relationship and don't want one so birth control is not my concern.

If anyone who is reading this has had the Paraguard and hair loss and has had the IUD removed, could you please share your experience and whether or not your hair came back?

Thanks for listening everyone, I never post on message boards but just had to now because I finally have someone to share this with.
