I don't think your hair looks proofy, either. I suspect it's the shape that you don't like. It's because it lacks layers. If you get the layers, it will give it a "rounder" shape with some "height" at the top--instead of the triangle look.
Agree with wavymom about the face framing layers. They will also soften the look.
