Does she have a satin pillowcase? I hear those are great for reducing friction of the hair and the sheets while sleeping at night, especially if she tosses and turns. Braids are great and the pillowcases will be even better!
I have no idea how to tell if hair is overconditioned, but could that be a possibility?
I don't know if it helps any, but my son has very very fine 2c/3a blonde hair and right now we are using California Baby Hair Conditioner for co-wash and as a LI.
I also have a Bumble and Bumble Curl Refreshing spray I bought for myself but that works much better on his hair after he wakes up. Both products were stupidly expensive though...
