I'm surprised at how much my local FM has grown in the past month. I remember telling you that I hoped this would happen, and it is. We did not have a large number of people growing and selling. It was a wee baby, for years, and mainly vegetables. It has now doubled in size, and is all local goods, in season. They have now included meats! We have some fantastic smaller cattle, chicken, and pig farms here (free range) so I am excited about this. Our commissioners also just allocated a large piece of land to our community garden, in addition to their smaller plot. A good friend of my leads the garden and proposed the idea. He is ecstatic. They donate part of the crops to our local food drive/community restaurant, and many participants sell the rest, at the market. This is fantastic because the good eats sell out in no time.
I still wish we would get a few additional vendors, like the larger farmers market in a near by city. It is mainly local crops/goods but but people do provide items that we can not easily get, or get relatively fresh, in this area.
When I hear terms like "hipster" I think, who told cliques they could leave high school??
