I had that same problem
but then I went to the store with my friends and got some with my own money and started using it... Now months later my mom finally realized that I was using gel and didnt yell at me (waho!) you can also get curl creams or mousse like you said I don't know if your mousse has silicones or sulfate but to know for sure oh can fined it in curlmart and see if they say wether or not your mousse has silicones or sulfates. I would go with kinky murky curling custard because that is really popular and there are great reviews on curl art
