When I discovered how to better treat my hair, I was encouraged to try to grow past my waist, perhaps even to tailbone in its curly state. That would mean I would have to be at tailbone at least when my hair is pulled straight.

I started on a journey of discovery - but part of that discovery is that my hair no longer forms perfect curls. I get small s-waves in all but the last 6 inches or so. I had to make a decision between trying to achieve perfect curls, or accepting my hair and growing for a while.

I decided to grow (for now). A time might come when I decide I want cute little old lady hair and I'll chop it off into a cotton-candy cone head. One thing my hair will never be is straight...or perfect.
Amen to everything you have said in this thread!! It is about learning to love our hair...I recently just started leaving conditoner in mine...nothing else and plopping. I can honestly say I love my frizzy, fantastically imperfect hair as it is...even if it is way less curly without gel or anything. But it is what it is....I've always admired your hair on the boards and can't wait until mine starts to get that long!
