I have been trying for 62 years to get shiny hair. When I roller set my hair, it would sometimes have a bit of sheen, but has never been shiny, and when natural, it is even less likely to have any sign of shine. The texture of curly hair is more likely to absorb light than to reflect it. It is just a fact of curly life that some of us will have a greater challenge in this regard.
