I have actually achieved this; that being said I feel it would be unfair not to tell you right off the bat that what works for one person does not necessarily mean it will work for the next. Our hair types are different (see mine in my signature down below,) but I will tell you what worked for me. First off, I began with a pixie cut I had kept for about half a year, so my hair was free from all damages other than your regular sulfates and cones from the shampoo and conditioner I was using. Before that, I had straightened my damaged, dry, brittle, frizzy, wiry 3A/2C pattern hair daily for about 2 years. I had my last hair cut sometime in the beginning of December though I made the decision to grow my hair long again in the beginning of this year. I switched to all-natural hair solutions in March, baking soda and apple cider vinegar. Immediately I noticed a difference in my hair, which wasn't that long, it still isn't that long, but long enough that I noticed a difference in the hair I knew all too well. It became healthy, soft, smooth and virtually frizz-free, as well as relaxed (fairly heavy wave in it still.) I should mention too that before my curly pattern did not straighten out near the root, and in fact when I had my pixie cut of 1 inch or less it was still obvious I had curly or at least heavily wavy hair. A week ago I would have said my hair was mainly 2C with some 2B underneath/in the back, and that was simply from my hair becoming healthy, soft and smooth by using all-natural solutions to wash my hair twice a week for about 3 months. Recently I heard about a using a coconut cream mask as a relaxer. You're supposed to leave it in for 20 minutes before washing your hair in the shower. I did this for the first time 2 nights ago. The morning after I had washed and slept on it, my hair looked and felt great, the coconut cream worked as an amazing moisturizer, though I woke up to the top part of my head which has been the waviest part of my hair more curly than it was before I washed it. Not the same dry damaged curl I had lived with for years, it felt so nice and smooth that I really didn't even mind. I combed it as I would have normally that day, and this morning after combing it-- amazing! I would say my entire head of hair now at 5 inches is somewhere between a 2B and 2C, I am so pleased. The coconut cream mask is only supposed to last until your next wash, so I will be repeating the mask process for each of my showers when I wash my hair. Also what I want to try is a boar bristle brush. They supposedly work best as far as spreading the natural oils in your hair down the hair shaft thus taming the frizz and some people have sworn by the fact it also loosens up their curls, so I'm going to try and get a hold of one of those and I'll post my review on the boards or that as well. It would simply be the icing on the cake as far as the amazing change my hair has made in only a few short months. But again, that's only been my experience. Also what should be noted is I use only a very small pinch of Argan oil after my hair washes, this has also been said to loosen curl pattern mainly as it is both moisturizing as well as a semi-heavy oil. With my regime of coconut cream, baking soda and vinegar though, I don't recommend using too much oil, if any, unless you're hair is as susceptible to being dry as mine is. Again, this has only been my experience thus far, and I continue to experiment. Any questions though, don't hesitate to ask!
