Actually I think I might have two different types of hair on my head

The canopy appears frizzier, fluffier and flatter - I wonder if it is over-moisturised? It can feel a bit dry though.

Then the underneath is smoother, "harder" and curls better.

I wonder if I need to apply a protein conditioner to just the canopy??

Frizz usually means there is a lack of moisture. It's quite possible that you may need to apply extra moisture to the area!
