Another option you could try are flexi rods to set the front section of your hair so that it will curl and you can play around with making them blend with the rest of your hair. This has worked for me because although relaxers did not completely straighten my hair, it left it wavy while all of my new growth is very tightly curled. So in order to rock a wash-and-go look, I have to use the flexi rods to make my hair uniform.
