It actually wound up working pretty good! Obviously a mess to get out, so I strongly urge to try over a weekend.

The second time I've tried it, I used store bought PB that actually had honey mixed in with it, and it was awesome. It def did the trick.

Also, because my hair really has been dealing with some major dryness due to this heat wave we're having in my neck of the woods, I mixed it with some aloe and a little essential oils to thin it out a bit. It really seems to work good with my texture too.

Not something I'd rely on all the time but great in a pinch.
