I've learned that I don't need a gel to keep my hair under control. That I can "style" with conditioner only and my hair look just as good as with other products. I'm able to get away with just curl keeper or just mousse and don't have to style with a curl enhancer, gel, serum...etc...to have a good hair day My second day hair is also better without all the extra products. My hair seems to like simplicity

ETA: my hair also gets oc'd so it doesn't like to be washed everyday
