Coconut Oil... where have YOU been?!?

I decided last week I wanted to try c.o. since so many people love it. I finally got a chance to get some this morning. I soaked my hair under the shower head then put in eh maybe 2Tbsp, finger brushing. Then plopped and went to bed.

What can I say but wow? I guess my hair likes c.o!

All of my new growth (2" or shorter) came out pretty kinky, sticking up all over the place. The length has lots of spirals. Amazing!

Where did you buy your coconut oil?
Hair type: normal texture, thick, wavy, low porosity, normal elasticity
I got the 15oz jar of Nutiva EVCO at our local mom & pop natural food store called Mountain Mama. I guess it was the right time for me to get some, it was on sale for 5 something.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to have to go looking for coconut oil. I think I've been on this site about a month now and I have turned into a product junky!

Definitely try it! I wouldn't be able to use that much Coconut oil, but I get my fingertips wet with it and distribute through the bottom half of my hair, and man it is awesome! I use it on my new growth and it's been a lifesaver for sure :-).
Wurly, fine, thin, moderately to heavily porous. Mod CG.

Coconut oil is a good moisturizer for your skin too! My skin love its. It's also a protectant.

I've found natural coconut oil in just about any grocery store that has an organic section. Around where I live that's pretty much every chain of food stores has a small section for organics. You'll find it in with cooking oils.

New Goals To restore my hair after dying it twice in two weeks. Learning more about products found in the stores to fit my tight budget. I'm still working on trying to grow out my hair.

I apply coconut oil to dry hair as a prewash treatment. I leave it in 10 minutes to overnight. Love it.
I finally got properly moisturized hair from overnight coconut oil. The bad news is my second day hair is slightly oily and 3rd day is now out of the question. I'm still experimenting on how to remedy this. I plan on trying the cowash on all my hair instead of just my roots. Oh well, I guess I can't have everything.

There is lots of info on coconut oil on The Natural Haven blog.

Coconut oil is a good moisturizer for your skin too!
Coconut oil is somewhat comedegenic (pore clogging). You may not want it on your face if you are acne prone.
