Suggestions needed

Hello!
This is my hair

And this is my current routine, I started it 2 days ago:
*wash every other day with Kerastase Bain Vitale Haut Tolerance for Normal combo hair (gift)

Ingredients:
Aqua (Water), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Citric Acid, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycerin, Sodium Chloride, Alcohol Denat., PEG-55 Propylene Glycol Oleate, Propylene Glycol, Hexylene Glycol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Glyceryl Laurate, Piroctone Olamine, Sodium Methylparaben, Polyquaternium-10, DMDM Hydantoin, Niacinamide, Methoxypropanediol, Calophyllum Tacamahaca/Calophyllum Tacamahaca Fruit Oil, Helianthus Annus/Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil, CI 42090/Blue 1, Parfum/Fragrance

*condition with a Kerastase conditioner
*put some aloe vera gel + jojoba on hair
*put some Pantene curl gel on hair

*plop hair (I discovered this 2 days ago)
*blow dry with diffuser until 90% dry

My hair gets dirty easily, though, and the gel isn't working, makes my curls separate in an unnatural way.
I get frizzies too.

Before this routine, I washed every day (until a month ago), and then every other day, put shampoo, conditioner, oil (before or after shampoo). But I brushed the hair and so I lost the wave. Plus, I didn't plop. So my hair was frizzy poufy and straightish.

So I want suggestions on finding a good routine.

Thanks a ton
Hi there and welcome to the board . I see you're from Italy - I'm half Italian and am currently trying to learn some Italian for a second trip there next year. I may need you if you know Italian !

Are you wanting to try CG (no poo, no cones) or modified CG (no or low poo, some cones)? Have you read the Curly Girl book by Lorraine Massey? Great suggestions on how to care for your wavy hair.

I think, and I know some other curlies will correct me if I'm wrong, some of the things you're using aren't too CG friendly. The shampoo has castor oil in it and Pantene products typically have cones in them (not sure about the one you're using).

The aloe vera gel and jojoba oil are good, although some curlies report some dryness with the aloe vera gel.

If you want to start cheap and have access to Garnier Fructis products, I'd go for the Sleek-n-Shine Conditioner and the SnS Conditioning Leave-in Cream, or the Curl-n-Shine Cond. and Leave-in. The Soft Curl Cream is also very good (rub between hands and apply to soaking wet hair). The SCC has a cone but most of us who use it don't have any problems with buildup.

Clairol Herbal Essence has some very good gels - the Body Envy, Totally Twisted or Set Me Up.

We can help more if we know what your hair goals are .

Ciao for now!

Ciao! I am Italian AND live in Italy, so I know Italian quite well

I'll be glad to help you out with your Italian.

I haven't read the book, I can''t find it here. My dad will get it for me next week when he goes to the US, if he can find it.
But I want to start now

I'd like to try either with CG or the modified one. Which one do you suggest?
My scalp is a bit on the oily side, as are my face and body skin..

So myabe I should ditch the Kerastase shampoo (maybe I'll finish it first though... it's expensive ). Why is castor oil bad?
Sadly, I hate the Fructis product. Tried only one bottle, but they make my hair 'heavy'. Maybe I shall try them again.

Maybe my hair felt dried out lately because of the aloe, then?
I'll ask my dad to get me a CLairol gel too, when he goes to the US. Can't find them here.

My goals are: 1) enhancing my waves, and making them 'curlier' (without brushing them out, etc)
2) growing my hair long (to my butt) and healthy
3) caring for my hair properly

THanks a ton
hmmm.. 50 reads ad 1 reply. Is there any problem with what I said?

Ahem .. back to the hair . I've always had oily hair and using conditioner to wash has been a good thing. Save your shampoo for when you've used something with a cone or just feel like you need a good shampooing.

Why don't you tell us what you DO have access to as far as products and we can go from there.

Good deal on doing without the brush. Use your fingers or a wide-tooth comb.

Oh, no you didn't say anything wrong .. the boards get kinda slow when the holidays are creeping up .

Oh yeah!! I always forget about Thanksgiving!!!
We don't celebrate it here, you know

I posted here about the products I used today. http://www.naturallycurly.com/phpBB/...ic.php?t=90291

Anywya, do you wash with conditioner everyday? I will only have access to the book after next week (when my dad comes back from the US) so please forgive me if I ask for things which are on the book.
I read about a lavander spray to revive frizz. How do I make that?
Thank you , or better 'grazie mille'
Welcome! I don't have the book either. No excuse for me not to I'm afraid! http://ylcf.org/gotcurl/curlycare.htm This site has lots of CG tips and good things to help you out. The book is the best resource, but when you don't get your hands on it these girls have some good tips.

Best of luck on your CG journey. I hope to see you around here more!

You might also check out the videos on the Jessicurl website http://www.jessicurl.com/Demo-Videos-p-6.html. You don't need to use her products to use the techniques she shows. I found them very helpful, even before I bought any of her products.

Good luck!
Couple of inches past shoulder length 3A. Shampoo every 3rd or 4th day w/ baby shampoo; Tigi Fashionista conditioner; back to Condition 3-in-1 mousse . Alternate days water rinse, conditioner and mousse.

I usually do wash with conditioner everyday. Depending on what products I used the day before, I'll just water rinse really good, but I feel like I need something, so I usually co-wash (conditioner-wash). The lavender spray recipe can be found, I think, on the Hair Recipe board (can't remember the exact name). Don't worry about asking questions - we still have them even after reading the book!

I tried to get the videos to work but they would not. I tried both Firefox and Internet Explorer, and also tried to open the links in both Windows Media Player and Quicktime, and got "invalid URLs." I'm so disappointed! What was your magic trick/combination??

Thanks!
