I'm afraid I have not indulged! I have pretty advanced arthritis in my neck (still in my 30s too) so that makes biking more than half an hour a day pretty much crush the nerves to my arms. They came through my town a couple years ago and it was quite a sight and I kind of wished I could shake myself loose from work and go along. The organizers actually tried to order everybody on the route to plant red geraniums in their front yards so we would look like a good "Norman Rockwell" small town. Ha!
I hear it's all about the pie. Funny, I thought it would be all about the blisters. There are some lovely parts of Iowa and you really have to be on the back roads to see them. The modified school buses some teams have really crack me up. Not only because they're painted bright colors and have goofy names and hilarious bumper stickers/signs, but because the rest of the year I see them parked on old farmsteads and I can only imagine the mice and wasps living in there. Maybe some raccoons...
RAGBRAI hasn't even been around so long and yet we've already had the official announcement of the route and I see people out training for it (or else the triathlon). It's such a big summer event. Glad you got to go and had a good time.

It was about the pie, and the beer, and the lasagna, and the pork chops, and the walking tacos... I gained weight during that trip, despite biking 8 hours a day. It's a very laid back, silly 7 days. I think all the people in their costumes and team attire help take your mind off the blisters, etc.

Wow, sounds like such fun. I have heard plenty of stories of people gaining weight from all the good food and beverages. 2008 wasn't one of our most Hellacious summers. Bad floods, though. July can be pretty tropical here.

 Walking tacos?
Do they walk right into your mouth?

A walking taco is a small bag of Doritos, split open on two sides to create the "taco shell", with beef and sour cream and cheese piled on top. A healthy and delicious meal! Ok, not healthy at all. But yummy!

Throw some lettuce in there and you've got taco salad, that's healthy right?

I can't wait to try this! I am going for 2nd day hair today, but maybe tomorrow! I just bought some coconut milk, I may try one those. Or maybe the original with a coconut milk, coconut oil, and honey DT after?
Is it weird all this coconut talk make me want a virgin Pina Coloda? LOL

Nope, in fact, it did the same to me. Maybe you could make it with pineapple juice and come up with a PT revolution? Although Jello always warns against using pineapple (won't set up), shouldn't hurt a PT.
Maybe I should try that... My hair can tolerate lots of experiments!
Yummy.

Well, you just made my day!
I'm glad the PT works so well for you -- did you blow-dry it in or use heat at all?

I tried it Saturday. I love it! It did work just as well as aphogee! Even my husband commented on how curly my hair was after I did it.

See, now that is an endorsement for how well your hair likes protein because most (certainly not all) men are not physically able to detect these changes we notice in our hair in response to whatever it is we do.
Happy that it worked for you and happy your husband noticed. Two for the price of one.

Have you tried a PT already? If you know what it does for you, one "quick and dirty" test for needing a PT is when your hair gets a little limp and your waves need a boost (assuming you don't need a trim instead).
Another way is to grab some of those loose hairs when you're in the shower and give them a little (very gentle) tug. They should stretch when wet like this and bounce back. Any hair will break if tugged on too hard, but if it just breaks with a gentle tug, you likely need protein.
If there is protein in your products, you don't need a PT as often - maybe once per month if your hair likes protein. If your products don't have protein, you can do it once per week or every other week.
You'll know you're overdoing it if the protein makes your (dry) hair seem a little stiff and actually less wavy/curly.

I just tried one today, and I'm not sure if it did what it was supposed to. My hair will not do what I want when I scrunch it, and it forms huge uniform "bump" waves instead of the individual waves I want, and used to get easily.

Give it a day or 2 to settle in. Could be your hair doesn't like a big dose of protein.

Thanks! I think I've got the hang of my hair again, and I've done a couple more PTs. Makes my hair so much more shiny, and curlier too. This is really helpful

About to do this again, but without the coconut oil. I did a coconut oil pre-poo on Sunday instead.
1/2 cup chamomile tea
1/4 cup ACV
1/2 packet gelatin
couple drops honey--couldn't get any more out of the bottle
Will apply to freshly washed hair and leave under shower cap for 5 min, then rinse, condition, and style. Will report back.
P.S. trying Queen Helene shampoo and condish and styling creme today.
