Any 2s tried Aveda Be Curly?

All the threads I found through searching were a few years old, and I want to know specifically from wavies, anyway. An online friend of mine posted a pic of herself using this product and twisting to encourage waves. It looked great. I'm tempted to pick some up and try it, but wanted to see if any NC wavies had tried it.

The only thing that holds me back is the fact that it seems to have Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein. My hair doesn't usually like that.
2c/3a with 2b underlayer. Fine, porous. Loves protein. But not hydrolized wheat protein. Yuck.

Hi Wavyblonde,
I have this in by cupboard, used it when I was beginning this whole process. I stopped using it to test other products and settled on BRHG. I'm going to try using The Aveda Be Curly mixed in with BRHG since I have it handy and ran out of Arc Angel. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I do remember liking this product, but when others told me it has a water soluble 'cone in it, I stopped using it, trying to be a purist. I'm more willing to add it back to my routine now that I have a hang of this.

I remember liking the slip of it and felt it enhanced my (at the time) weak waves.
CG as of 6/10: 2b,3a,/dense/med text/ norm elasticity.
Low poo RenpureMPHISP 1-2/wk

D Cond PT and Moroccan oil rest. mask 1-2X/wk

I've only tried the conditioner, before CG though so I don't know if it's changed. The smell was so very overpowering I hated it. It moisturized well and was very thick.

I didn't think it was CG friendly at all. I musta missed that the cone was water soluble.

Thanks, ladies. Definitely let me know how you liked it, simmplyb!

Here are the ingredients as of 2006: Aqueous Extracts: Linum Usitatissimum Extract, Althea Officianalis Extract (marshmallow-natural hold), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Phenyl Trimethicone, Behentrimonium Chloride, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Panthenol, Fragrance, Geraniol, Linalool, Citronellol, Amly Cinnamal, Limonene, Cinnamidopropyltrimonium Chloride, Polyquaternium 11, Glycerin, Tocopherol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Phenoxyethanol (reformulated late 2006)

Apparently this silicone is not water-soluble, according to this article. Shoot. http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlre...p-on-silicones

Simmply, can you verify from your container that the product still contains the 'cone?

The product still contains the mentioned 'cone.

I tried it today with my regular routine (mixing with BRHG instead of Arc angel), ultimately I'm not particulary impressed.

I'm trying to achieve better wave formation at my canopy without having a producty appearance once I SOTC.

I knew I wasn't going to be happy when I was scrunching out moisture with a t-shirt....less clumpy. So, to try to salvage...I spritzed with water and added more BRHG.

The outcome: yuk canope, but awesome underlayer loose curls. So, where my hair likes to display less curl....it lessened even more. Where my hair (underneath) likes to make tight spirals....I got big loose waves.

I'm giving it a thumbs down. HTH

I tried a sample of Aveda Be Curly when I bought some Aveda Confixor Gel last summer before I went CG. Many people love the fragrance but it was too strong for me. The ABC definitely helped with curl definition, especially when combined with the Confixor gel. Since it was just a sample, my experience with it is quite limited. The Confixor has Peg-12 Dimethicone so eventhough it's water soluble, it's been stashed away with all of my other non-CG products!

Hmmm....overall, it's probably not worth me spending $18+ to find out, when I have something that I like already. Thanks, ladiesssssss!
