This sounds like a brilliant idea! Can't wait to try it. We should probably christian is the "sungirl 86 method" for wavy hair if a lot of us find success with it. (Since pixiecurl and icequeen have had hair care methods named after them)!

it works almost like the super soaker method for second day hair. because you are rewetting, the clumps come out great!

I was really impressed with how well this turned out. I had tried in the past to do the same thing but with a t shirt and it was pretty meh. I was worried about the frizz factor from using a terry cloth washcloth, but it turned out great! I may have to use this over the bathtub next time because my hair can soak up A LOT of water lol. Best second day technique I've tried yet. Thanks for sharing

This method worked really well for me too! I used a bandanna, then plopped about 15 minutes after scrunching, and my hair was frizz free and shiny. Didn't even need to apply extra product. Thanks for the tip!

Will def be trying this. I usually go straight or roller-set during the cold months because going out w/a wet head is just too uncomfortable. And my hair's condition isn't the best right now with straightening. Cannot wait to try!

*almost* The difference for me is that with this method, my hair gets wet but not soaked. With the super soaker method I might as well do my whole routine. This way, I get better second day hair than doing nothing...and a bit of a break on doing my full-blown routine that takes longer to do and, more importantly, to dry.
I'm sure the difference in these two methods simply comes down to my hair porosity. And that is why I am posting this - I am not meaning to correct or argue. I just want those with low-po to know what, IMO, the difference is.
(I also did not get good results from the ss method; though, I am not sure why.)

My routine:
Cleansing: DCNP, every 4-5 days (occasionally use CJ cleansers).

LI: KCKT or CJSL
Gel: KCCC, CJCIAB for 2nd day hair (sometimes third)
Heat is my friend: warm water rinses, steam caps, and diffuse dry. I love CLU cloths and my Denman.

That's a good point. BUT timing and convenience aside I actually like using the washcloth method to achieve amazing clumps when I want my hair to look extra special. I essentially super soak my dry hair then scrunch in some KCCC, diffuse, and you wouldn't believe the clumps. It looks even better if I split and loosen the clumps up when dry. Crazy volume and bounce. Just did this for a wedding last night.

I tried this today, and it worked pretty well! I used a normal washcloth and did get a smidge frizzy--I was actually surprised at how wet my hair got (I probably over did it). I will definitely try again with one of my flour sack towels, or a bandana as Barcemadis did.

I'm visiting my parents' house in the country and we've always had problems with the water supply. We can't use much--at ALL.
I was too tired to wear my sleep bonnet last night and was just about to resign myself to a bun when I remembered this.
I love this place!!!
P.S. I'm 3b.....

This didn't work for me. Major frizz. I'm going to try it again, though.

This worked very well for me! Much less frizz on my second day hair than with spritz bottle I used a cotton tshirt to soak my curls with, then another to scrunch with, then SOTC when dry. Fab! thanks for the cool tip!

I tried this today and for whatever reason, my hair actually looks BETTER today than my first day hair!
Why could that be? I have high porosity and medium everything else. So, is it the lower amount of water getting into the hair? The second layer if product (this is the first time I've done more product on day two)?

i have the same experience, and from what i can tell it functions like the super soaker. the idea behind the super soaker is that some products need more water after application in order to be activated (and promote more clumps). i find that the washcloth method with more product worked in afterwards gives me serious clumps. cheers!

Very timely reviving of this post! Now that it's getting colder outside I'm thinking of switching up my wash routine and showering at night instead of in the morning. My hair is LP so it takes forever to dry and it's getting too cold to leave the house with damp hair. Has anyone tried this method with a first round application of products instead of a refresher? I can't sleep in a plop or pineapple so maybe this is a solution?

Hi! I know this isn't a new post but I was wondering how the styling part goes. How much and what type of product would you scrunch in? I tried mousse today and not too happy with the results. My waves are looser than normal and the clumps are smaller.
If I do this tomorrow, should I scrunch in more KCCC, gel, or mousse (since that is what is already in my hair)?
I need a hair twin to bug for advice
Thank you!

I have a lot of hair and I use 2 products with this method, curl enhancer and gel, usually the same as I've used the day before. Works like a charm.

Tried this today with a microfiber washcloth...I am in love! Thank you! It did not give me great clumps but it was better than any other 2nd day hair I've ever had. More curly looking. Even got a compliment on my hair!
