Oh my gosh! This makes SO MUCH sense! I have a 6 month old son, and I have found that showering at night works out way better for me than showering in the morning now. So, in a way, my first day hair sort of IS 2nd day hair. Unfortunately, my low porosity hair doesn't work too well when spritzed with water, so it has sort of led to messier, frizzier, lazier waves, and my hair has been in a bun almost every day

I tried this today and I LOVE IT! I scrunched water in with a wash cloth followed by some Curls in a Bottle, plopped for a few minutes, let my hair air dry, and SOTC. My hair looked and felt GREAT!

Thank you so much for posting! This will be part of my routine every morning from now on!

Reviving this one so newbies can see it because I tried it and it works!! Misting my hair just created a gunky mess (still newly CG and I think my hair is still adjusting) but using this method I was able to quickly and effectively have great *3rd* day hair, even after my 2nd day being a low bun that had wiped my curls out. Thrilled to find a technique that works for me!!

Thanks for the bump!! I never saw this before and have been trying to find ways to manage second day hair. I can't wait to try it tomorrow.

I'm going to have to try this as well, thanks for the bump! My hair gets pretty frizzy with the spray bottle, but it makes decent hair. If this can tame the frizzies, I'll be set!

I'm so glad to have seen this thread, I'm absolutely going to try it out asap! I read through this thread earlier and immediately went out and bought some microfibre washcloths

Thanks for the bump. I am going to try and squeeze a 4th day out of my hair tomorrow and this will be a good technique to try.

If it doesn't work, french braid it is!

I tried this and it was partly successful - I hadn't used any gel/mousse on wash day so I wasn't sure how well this was going to work but I gave it a shot. I scrunched with a wet MF washcloth, smoothed in some conditioner and then scrunched in some mousse. I do have great wave formation however the clumps are very stringy, as in literally the width of a piece of string. My hair also has a tacky producty feel. From trying this and other experimentation I have done, I have realised:
1) If my hair isn't styled whilst soaking wet, I get incredibly stringy clumps
2) If I use product on damp/nearly dry hair, I get a producty feel

So this means, I should either do my styling on soaking wet hair, which will give me bigger clumps and a non tacky feel OR I should forgo the products (gels, mousses) on 2nd day hair and see what happens with just water.

I will try next time just scrunching with the washcloth and see if I still get stringy clumps.

eta: My hair is so shiny though! As shiny as day 1 (and this is day 3!)

I tried today and it turned out decent. I was rushing though so it could have been better. It definitely shows promise for me. I had to pull back the front pieces but no biggie ... It isn't bad but like I said I was running out the door and I'm sure if I had taken my time it would be much better.

i've done a version of this by wetting my curlease towel as i dry my hair. but never tried it on dry hair. it seems a wash cloth would do a better job.

is the washcloth soaking wet? or do you squeeze it out? if soaking wet, do you then scrunch your hair with a dry towel?

It seemed to work okay for me. I feel like the wash cloth I used (which was just a wash cloth sized piece of jersey I cut up) didn't hold quite enough water so maybe something else would work better.

this morning i did not wet/wash my hair. i saturated a hand dry hair glove in cold water. sequeezed excess water, smoothed a little bit of ufdcm on my dry hair, then scrunched hair with wet hair dry glove.

i was able to get really good 2nd day hair (a bit of canopy frizz which i decided to leave and not smooth on cjciab) - tight curls. even got a compliment! it is rare that i get 2nd day hair, i don't attempt it, will only do it i have a super time crunch. this is great, easy, i will definitely do it again, can make scheduling easier without having to allow hours for hair to dry!

Dang, I still haven't tried this. I'm going to attempt 3rd day hair (which is completely unheard of for me) tomorrow and I'll try this out and report back. Glad the majority are having luck with this!

So I tried this today. It made me frizz up so much, and I had to get my washcloth soaking wet in order for it to do anything. By then my hair was much more wet that I wanted it, so I ended up just refreshing like normal with my spray bottle, and ended up with much less frizz. I decided to diffuse, since my hair was so wet and it's so cold out. Gave me really decent 3rd day hair!

I've tried it too... For me I just manage to make it more frizzy, as I needed to scrunch in water so many times to get it wet enough to work with at all. I do however have a lot of hair that it takes a lot of water to make it even damp... Ended up using my spray bottle instead, just like above and then scrunch it in with a damp towel. I'm glad it works for some though.

i have a thought that i might try sat morning. i'll wet the gloves, then spread some conditioner on the gloves, then scrunch my hair. have breakfast, some yard work, and see how my hair looks. i'll still cowash later in the morning, so if it doesn't work, nothing lost.

I am currently growing out a pixie (again) & my hair is not long enough to pineapple yet so 2nd day hair is a real problem for me.
I tried this yesterday with a MF duster (a new one!), not sopping wet but just squeezed out slightly, & it gave me great 2nd day hair, it seems to wet my hair more evenly than with a spray, I just scrunched in a tiny amount of Leave In whilst wet.
So thanks for re-bumping this post!
