I need moisture but not weight

I'm a 2a when I try really hard! Still learning all the time. Lately I've switched from CJ daily fix to Tresseme natural volume conditioner as my CO. It made me notice that the CJDF was really drying me out.

I only pt every month or less, but really need to step up the dt and just get more moisture in my hair.

Any suggestions for a good DT and either a RO or something to use more often to get more moisture in my hair? I get weighed down very very easily with oils and butters, but realize this is what gives me moisture.

I'd love to hear what 2a can get away with and still keep the waves!
Humectants and protein. Not necessarily a PT, but humectants help hold moisture on hair and protein itself slows dehydration of hair (and skin). Moisture is hydration (water).

If it's softness you're looking for then I have another idea for you. Take a tiny bit of conditioner (if it has humectants and protein, great) and rub it in your palms (only) like you're rubbing on hand lotion, maybe add a drop or 2 of water if it feels too dry. Comb and smooth this through your hair in place of a RO, then go on styling. If you get the amount right, it works very nicely.

thanks iAgirl. I'm going to give it a try tomorrow.

Dang, thought I was getting the hang of the moisture/protein thing and have NO idea about humectants. this will be my next search!
I really like the GVP conditioning balm from Sally's for a really good moisture punch but it's probably a bit heavy for you. I also really like Yes to Cucumbers as a good moisturizer and it's much lighter than the GVP.

Also take a look at your stylers. I have certain products that leave me feeling drier than others. You might also want to see if using leave-in makes a difference, or creamy products vs jelly like products helps!
Coarse texture, normal-high porosity, normal elasticity (Komaza Care), very weak waves
cleanser: Redken Fresh Curls Shampoo, CJ Daily Fix

rinse out: GVP Conditioning Balm, CJ Repair Me, CJ Smoothing
