Getting haircut today|Help!-PIC

My hair is long and I feel like its totally weighed down because I only have layers in front of my face and 2 layers in the back only. I would love me some additional layers. (in the pic my hair in the front is picked up with a clip that's why it looks like I have more layers).

There's a lot of experts here so I really need suggestions.

PS-Going to see a hairstylist today around 12:30pm that does the devacut BUT will not be getting that at all. Too expensive! Just going for some suggestions.

What should I tell my reg. hairstylist? Is there a diff. between a reg. layered haircut and one for wavy hair? Is there a KEY word I should tell my stylist besides telling her that I want a more layer cut for wavy hair? What if she doesn't know and messes up my hair...that's what I'm worried about : /

Suggestions OR names of haircuts will be truly appreciated!

WILL MY HAIR LOOK THINNER? I DON'T WANT THAT...

I was going to ask something similar: I hate how boring my haircuts tends to be when done by a curl expert. I would love to be able to get a regular cut but be CG in the care if my hair. Would this ruin my wave pattern?

To answer you question, I think the things we need to avoid are razors and thinning shears, the kind where it looks like they make a huge cut right in the middle of a strand. Not sure about the rest, so I hope others have some insight!

Good luck!

Am I being too picky?!? : /

I think long layers will suit you just fine. That's not very fancy and tend to be nice for waves. They lighten up the weight on the lower layers. If your lower layers tend to be straight, then they'll have to be careful that the top ones don't shrink up too much (show him/her the "shrink" you have).
If I ever went back to a stylist, I think I'd draw the shape of the cut I wanted. 1 drawing = 1000 words?
The wrong-est thing to do is to pull the hair out to the side at 90 and chop. It will completely shear off the shape of your waves.

Just got back! I can't tell whether I like it or not because I used my lunch-time to do it so it's all wet now with a leave-in condish...

He does the devacut and he didn't recommend the devacut for me because my hair is wavy and it will look choppy on those days that I want to style it differently. He did NOT recommend Ouidad haircut....it thins out the hair tremendously (don't shoot the messenger! that's what his professional opinion is)....Can't wait to get home and style it...I did get some long layers and hopefully this will get me the lift I sort of want...My hair looks very wavy though! (eek!)
