Default Pourous or NOT?

I was told yesterday by the Deva hairdresser I have "normal" hair instead of fine...

Does that mean it's porous? If it's humid it does get really frizzy...let's say I go out early morning and it's really hot and muggy (I ♥ FL) by the time I get to work my hair looks like I stepped out of a steam room **I know, a little exaggerated but you get the point** with fly-aways...etc...

Needless to say, this smiley would represent my hair and I

If it is, then moisture is NOT my helper....? I am a little confused and trying to learn what works and stays on my hair....

Much appreciated!

I think you are confusing texture and porosity. They are two completely different things. Normal vs fine has to do with the diameter of each strand of hair whereas porosity has to do with how the cuticle lies. HTH

Ah I see what you are saying, I am confusing the two...

So, how do I know if my hair is porous? And what do I need to seal it if it IS? Should I consider I have porous hair if it gets frizzy with humidity? I have a mental pic of the cuticle when its porous it's as if the strand of hair looks like a cone....

Am I right or am I just mixing up much of the info I've read? Sorry if it sounds silly...trying to shed some light on this subject.

Not silly at all! The best resource for this info is Live Curly, Live Free. Very clear! Either google that or look in the newbie section, there should be a link hanging around. I don't have overly porous hair so I really can't give you answers...

Links on humidity
CurlChemist: Reader Questions | NaturallyCurly.com
It’s not the humidity, it’s the….. humidity Pittsburgh Curly
Link on porosity
Porosity and Curly Hair | NaturallyCurly.com

Determining porosity can be hard. The easiest way to do it is to send in a hair sample to the curl wizzard on livecrulylivefree.com. It also helps to read the article on the link above and see if any seem to describe your hair.
Hair that frizzes in humidity is consistent with porous hair. My hair has actually gotten damp from being outside in humid conditions.
