Short bobs-change technique?

For my shoulder length hair I would comb product through my almost soaking wet hair, scrunch with hands then microfiber towel, pixiecurl dry, then use duckbill clips at my roots.

None of this works now that my longest piece of hair is chin length in my inverted bob. Any suggestions for techniques that work on short hair?

I've had short hair for awhile now (am trying to grow it out). My longest bits are at collar bone length stretched/straight.

I'm still experimenting with what works with my hair but this is my basic routine atm; (it seems pretty similar to yours actually)
- wash/ condition as usual in the shower. I do de-tangle with a wide tooth comb
- while still soaking wet, I rake in a blob of curl cream into my hair.I then scrunch in another blob.
- run a bit of water of my hair to distribute the product at help clumpage
- scrunch out some excess water, and then scrunch with curls like us cloth
- plop with curls like us cloth while I do my make-up etc (10mins max)
- take down plop, rearrange part etc and scrunch like crazy. I make sure I scrunch even the shorter layers.
- add my mouse (joico atm) and scrunch.
- I've just started root clipping as my layers are getting longer
- pixie diffuse till 70-80% dry. air dry the rest of the way on the way to work (SOTC when I park at work!)

i guess for me the main difference I have made with styling short hair is I find mouse better.

HTH somehow.. hopefully some other will chime in

Aiming to grow hair to waist from buzz cut - slowly but surely.
Are you rinsing and scrunching upside down? Sometimes that can make a big difference. I couldn't do that a few months ago with shorter hair. I had to part my hair and style right side up.
After viewing the DVD from the new CG book, I finger comb product in and handle my hair much more gently then I ever did before.

I wet, rinse out and style every day. After I wet my hair in the shower, I gently finger comb in my rinse out. I do rinse it all out--but gently scrunch as I do this leaning into the water (bent at the waist.) I layer in my products, gently finger combing in each layer, scrunching, finger comb the next layer. I put my hair in a Curlease towel (can't really say I plop) while I dress and do my eye makeup. I scrunch with a CLU towel (microfiber gives me FRIZZ) and diffuse upside down for about 5 minutes with my FHI nano (good dryer makes a BIG difference frizzwise.) After I'm right side up, I put in my part, lean back and shake out my hair to loosen the crown (don't touch) and place a claw clip on either side to hold back my bangs. I air dry the rest of the way and don't touch the top until it's completely dry. I go in underneath with my fingers to test the dryness. I do use my fingers to gently "pull" my hair into shape when it's dry.

Oooh, so many things to think about!

I am not plopping - that didnt seem to work on my hair. I am not scrunching upside down right now.

Mousse! I was wondering if that might be what I am missing. I posted about gel not seeming to work for me right now. I might have to try mousse again. I think I have Paul Mitchell Sculpting mousse in the cupboard.

Curls Like Us cloth? I am guessing from Curlmart? How is it different than a microfiber?

Lastly, the hair dryer. I have been thinking of replacing my 10 yr old Solano dryer. It's just the nearly $200 price tage that is shocking

CLU towels are like a heavy cotton tee shirt. - CurlsLikeUs They are available at CurlMart and other locations. As I said before, microfiber gives me frizz, these don't. (even more expensive microfiber such as the Aquis towels.)

You can buy the FHI Nano on amazon.com for $94, including free shipping.

FHI may not honor the warranty (was mentioned on the thread where I found it in the 40+ forum about expensive dryers.) A good dryer makes a big difference.
