FSG Curl Cream!

Like Tree2Likes

I am totally going to try this. I am going to make FSG tomorrow - I have to buy honey. I've had the seeds for awhile. Can't wait to make my own cream!
That's me with FSG as my styler!!

3b. fine & thick, coarse, dry, medium porosity. Sucks up product and loves ACVs! FSG is my HG!

Currently using:

RO: Yes to Cuc; SSC Lavender Condish; Sally GVP LI: Donna Marie Miracle D&C
Style: FSG w/Aussie Instant Freeze & CIAB
Just bumping this back up again. Is anyone still using this in their routine? I had really great success with it last year but stopped using it when winter came. I am thinking of revisiting it again since looking back at some of my hair pics and realizing how shiny and nicely defined my curls looked after.

First a Q. I was wondering if there is a reason why there are times when the product got clumpy bits on my hair after application. It didn't do this all the time and I can't figure out what caused it. I want to make a new batch but need want to avoid this from happening. I was using pure clean gel as my hard hold gel, and tresumme naturals for the conditioner. I added vitamin E to the FSG and skipped the addition of oil.

Thanks!!!

I remember those lovely pics! I'm thinking the problem might be the Tresemme Conditioner -GFPC gel. I have read about people having problems mixing other things with it as well (such as adding protein). There are a couple ingredients in those 2 that I wonder how they get along. Maybe try a different conditioner?
I have a new recipe too: science-y hair blog: What's Cookin': Super Smooth Flax Curl Cream
It's more of "use it under a strong hold gel" sort of product, though it works really well alone if you're not looking for a lot of hold. The "xanthan gum" version might actually be just right.

Want to try this but I'm wondering if the conditioner might be too much for my thin, fine hair. Thoughts?
Thoughts for Mimee03 - make the smallest batch and cut the conditioner and oil in half or less than half. I find that I can use this on my fine and thin-ish hair, but it's best if the FSG has a thickener in it to bulk everything up.
Also, stick with a lighter oil like grapeseed or canola or apricot kernel oil - but do use a thick, creamy conditioner if you have one. The thinner ones like Suave or Tresemme don't give the same result.
Wow, now I need to use this on my hair tomorrow...

I haven't used this in quite a while, and now I really want to whip some up for tomorrow. I really did love it but experiment with way too many things. I have tried making the fsg with xanthan gum not too long ago to thicken and really liked it alot except that I had a hard time getting second day hair with it. It was like my hair turned stiff after a day if that makes any sense? Anyway, I am going to make some of the fsg with the xanthan gum and try making fsgcc with that and see if I like it

My favorite brands are Kinky Curly, As I am, Curly Kinks, Curl Junkie, and Darcy's Botanicals. Also love sealing with oils (loving argan oil right now) and styling with jelly products (KCCC is my current favorite). Mostly trying to keep it simple!

can I make a big batch of this and freeze it? I am trying it with equal amounts of flax seed gel, conditioner, and strong hold gel as the flax seed tends to make me clump ALOT and tend to lay flat. .
CG since the book came out!!

Products
-Shampoo: - Edens co-wash
Conditioner: Curl Junkie, Curly Kinks curl renew, CJ Argan oil, Mop Top daily conditioner
Leave-in's: above
DT: GVC
Curl Cream: SMS
Stylers: Curly Kinks Coil Jam, Mop Top
Usually freezing flaxseed gel is okay. I think that most commercial hair gel recovers from freezing too. I'm not sure about conditioner, though. Conditioner alone would probably separate after freezing. Conditioner mixed into flaxseed gel might not be a noticeable difference.

I would try freezing just a little bit first as a test before I tried freezing a large batch.
