Default My poor waves are frizzing and falling apart! Help!

Two days ago, I had the most ridiculous idea in the world. I figured, since I wasn't a curly, it wouldn't hurt to COMB (not brush!!) my hair. Problem was, the only comb I found was a thinner-tooth comb. Even though warning bells went off in my head, I went ahead and combed by soaking wet hair and went on with my routine. Ever since then, my waves have been so meek and lifeless, I had to resort to diffusing it (which I never need to do to get some plump 2b waves). Now they're thin and it looks like I lost so much hair (even though I didn't) and on top of that, my hair has been frizzing beyond belief!

2's, please help! I don't know what to do to save my waves!

Hmmm it seems odd that combing your hair once with a comb who make your hair weird. Did you comb it with conditioner in your hair?

Maybe just do a PT+DT...that should give your waves some life again!

I agree - have you tried cleansing and just starting all over?It seems pretty unlikely that wet-combing your hair only once could have a lasting effect.

If it doesn't work - has your weather changed abruptly? That can really put the damper on waves.

Combed it without conditioner. I know... I didn't think my hair would flop and I'm skeptical that it was entirely because I combed it. I'd say the weather's gotten drier, but today we've more or less gotten a monsoon, and it's been raining on and off these past few days. I'm gonna try a DT and add a little more conditioner in than usual, just to see if my hair has been awfully dry

I don't think it's the combing. I always comb my hair with a finer tooth comb after fingercombing my wet hair, it makes my hair less frizzy and removes any knots I may have missed.
I would think you might left too much conditioner in before styling. But since you said you didn't I am not sure what may caused it. This doesn't help much I know.

Your hair's "symptoms" sound a lot like mine when I was OC'd. Limp, lifeless, poor curl/wave formation, won't clump, and tres frizzy.

What worked for me was a sulfate wash, PT+DT and an ACV rinse (not all at once =P )

Even if your hair does not usually like protein, it can really help if you are in fact OC'd

Best of luck to you and your waves. I know how frustrating it can be.

I was having the same sort of problems just over a week ago. A few people recommended clarifying and a PT/DT and while I wasn't sure about it (my hair really didn't feel TOO soft or TOO hard), man it made all the difference in the world!

In fact it's starting to feel off again today, so I'm pretty sure PT/DT's will become a weekly fixture in my life for awhile

My hair LOVES protein, so I might have to give it a try, possibly switch my conditioner, maybe I did OC. I'll also give the clarifying a try.

Thanks so much for the replies everyone!

I would probably try a ACV rinse followed by a good conditioner;..
