New Shampoo/Condish

I've been using L'oreal Everpure Colorsafe Shampoo and Conditioner for a while but I just learned that both have the a-cone in it. I've been having some hair issues (you can read that in my Moving Backwards thread) and I'm wondering if a new shampoo and conditioner would help. I was looking up color-safe products and it looks like Yes To Carrots has a new 'poo and condish for color-treated hair. Here's a link to the ingredients. Are they CG? Thanks!!!! Yes To Carrots™

I use the Yes to Cucumbers conditioner and I'm pretty sure it's the color-safe line, not the Carrots. I could be wrong. I can't say I've used the shampoo's from these lines, but the conditioners are safe I just happen to like the cucumber smell better than the carrot (baby powderish) smell.

Normal 2b, my hair loves protein right now!

LowPoo/NoPoo: Renpure (green or red), BB, Deva NoPoo
RO: OneC, Y2Cu
Leave In: Y2Cu, CG Beauticulrs
Style: CIAB, Garnier pure clean gel, AIF, SS CEJ, CCCL
PT: Ion Effective Care or IAGirls' PT
does the "Yes to Cukes, Yes to carrots have a lot of
slip? just curious! sorry for stealing your thread!

are they protein free?
I think the Yes2Cu has a little protein (but I'll double check when I'm at home). I find that it has a lot of slip for me to detangle, but it's also light. It works great as a LI when I feel I need one.

My hair can get wonky after using a shampoo/conditioner with even water soluble cones and protein multiple days in a row. I use a basic shampoo to get the gunk off and my hair usually recovers in one wash.

Using FIA: 2b/2a mix with a few ringlets in the canopy, straighter in the under layer by my neck. Thin in density, fine strands. Normal porosity. Hennaed.

Go To's: Aveda, Lush

I liked the Yes to Cukes much better than the Yes to Carrots! Cukes smells better, more moisturizing and more slippy. The Carrots version made me itchy and wasn't very moisturizing and smells like baby powder!
Coarse texture, normal-high porosity, normal elasticity (Komaza Care), very weak waves
cleanser: Redken Fresh Curls Shampoo, CJ Daily Fix

rinse out: GVP Conditioning Balm, CJ Repair Me, CJ Smoothing

jellies/creams: CR Curl Maker, KCCC, UFD Curly Magic
gels: CJ CQ, BRHG

Anything with wheat is a no-no for me . I was at Target today and could NOT find anything that was CG AND color-friendly. I hate to do it but I'm wondering if I should stop by Whole Foods and pick out something..........so expensive though!!!!!!!!

I did double check and didn't see an out and out protein, but do recall people discussing it. Here's what is listed on my bottle:

Water (Aqua), Cetearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride, Cetyl Esters, Cucumis Sativus Fruit Extract (Cucumber), Centaurea Cyanus (Cornflower) Extract, Dead Sea Water (Maris Aqua), Maris Limus Silt Extract (Dead Sea Silt), Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis) Leaf Juice, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Spirulina Maxima Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Algae (Seaweed) Extract, Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract, Punica Granatrum Extract, Guar

Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Fragrance (Parfum), Sodum Hydroxide, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate

So while I don't see anything in there containing wheat, I'm sure you are better at spotting it than I am

It is the Yes to Cucumbers Color Safe Conditioner. I don't have any of the shampoo around, but I remember some people saying there is dimethicone in some of the formulas? I'm not 100% on that. The Renpure is working good for me, so I haven't had to try a different shampoo yet.

Hope that helps a little anyway

Well, I was in Whole Foods today and ended up buying a shampoo and conditioner by Nature's Gate. They were the least expensive as well as being CG, gluten-free and color-enriching. They also claim to have soy protein and vitamin B5 and both are supposed to be strengthening so I'm really hoping that will help add some life to my waves!!!!!!!!! Thanks for all the help!!!!11

I can't use proteins either. No wheat, no silk.

YtC wasn't so bad, but the conditioner was rather light.

NG wasn't moisturizing enough for me.

Then again my hair is so difficult to manage, I actually do better when I use a sulfate free shampoo and no conditioner!

Unfortunately I'm so dry/damaged and color treated right now, I can't do that.

It's too much maintenance. I don't straighten or iron, but I do brush and occasionally blow dry. I shampoo and condition and use a leave in cream. Not much product play.

I let it have a smooth, but healthy wave, which kind of curls at the bottom.

It's softer and I can actually touch it and not worry about messing it up.

But that's what just works for me.
