Second day hair techniques?

Hi! I'm still new to Mod CG, using a low-poo on a regular basis and trying new conditioners. After my hair has been low-poo'd and air dried it looks pretty nice! But after I've slept? Fooorrrget it.

Do you think I should put my hair up in some way or something like a beanie or a baggy beanie or a shower cap to prevent my hair from being smushed? Or maybe just co-wash every other day? What techniques do you use?

Daily routine: Cleanse, LI, soak with water, scrunch in gel, plop, pixie diffuse, air dry.

When you say 2nd day hair do you hope to step out of bed, fluff and go? Most of us 2's cannot do that. Mine (I'll speak for myself) is a MESS and a half when I get up. I mist, scrunch and diffuse and usually get better hair than I did first day.

I also don't have a hair dryer with a diffuser, so t-shirt scrunching and air drying are kind of my only options at this point. I'd typically be comfortable with air-drying my hair as I'm starting my day out, but not in winter weather. Especially with a Mom who thinks sleeping with wet hair will give me pneumonia....

The best I can manage of second day hair is a spritz and scrunch with leave-in and gel, then I feel the need to low-poo before bed (still in the "low-poo" phase of CG, not really co-washing yet,) then I have my best just-washed hair before bed! XD

I'm considering plopping before bed, since when I was younger I'd try to stuff my waves into a beanie before bed and it did help sometimes, if the beanie didn't slip off as I slept. =P

Lowpoo is perfectly fine.I cannot cowash, myself.

Are you familar with pineapple-ing? That could work for you. Lean over, grab your hair like you are making a ponytail on top of you head with a soft scrunchie. Some also the wind the rest up in a sleep cap, scarf or the like.

For those of you one 2nd day hair, cuz I wash at night too and figure why put products on then, I can't pineapple, it gives me a headache. Anyways. . . . when you sya you mist and scrunch. . .do you not find the neeed to comb through and get those curls in their right clump?? cuz mine is all over the place, and if I just mist and scrunch, there's a lot of wacky hairs all out there? But I don't know how I can comb, unless I run some leave in after I mist, comb and then scrunch in gel, how does that sound??? Safe or breakage?

I finger comb only on the days that I am washing my hair. I do it upside down with conditioner on my ends. I am really doing it to get out all of the loose hair.

On second day I mist until pretty wet, scrunch and diffuse.

I would guess that you would say that my hair is kind of going all over the place because I have few actual curls, mostly waves.

I did my first all-night plop last night after co-washing. Wow! Lol! It was a bit crazy, but I fiddled with it a little bit and it looks really nice =D

I tried pineappling. The scrunchie wouldn't stay on top of my head =P I'm considering dry-plopping to preserve my waves until the next morning, because wet-plopping can have odd effects. My hair is a lot curlier when I do it, but the top of my head is extremely flattened, while my length is extremely bouncy and a bit tangled together, and my hair pretty much insists on staying this way unless I give it a lot of time and effort trying to shape it correctly.... Still working on it.

For right now though I just have to co-wash or low-poo on mornings where I try to look nice that day. If I want to wash my hair without getting the rest of my body wet, I have to put one foot on the side of the tub and the other way high on the shelf on the inner corner, to make sure I have my hands free to scrub while my showerhead doesn't saturate the floor! LOL it looks pretty crazy XD

I can't pineapple with a scrunchie or it falls out too. I use one of those thick rubberbands and put it on snug but not tight before I go to bed. In the morning I spritz with water till lightly damp, scrunch to reform curls until I like it, then I emulsify a quarter size of BRHG and a pea size amount of conditioner with a little bit of water into my hair. I don't need to diffuse but I usually do which only takes a minute or two to dry. I think my second day hair is better than first day.

Your all night plopping turned out great! I could never achieve those results with adding product.
My holy grails: SM Moisture Retention Shampoo, GVP Conditioning Balm, Biosilk Rock Hard Gelee.

Instead, I'm pineappling slightly damp hair into an unrolled beanie overnight, which is much looser on my head and reduces the flattening and extreme bounciness of the curls, so they're easier to work with. I'm still experimenting though!
