Hi everyone! I have always straightened my hair because I never knew how to deal with my hair and was wondering if I could have some help?

I THINK I have type 2c hair. It's extremely coarse and i think its curls are weighed down by the hair. I have very choppy layers all over, but an overall longer length. It has been dyed black and purple on the underneath, but it doesn't seem to affect it much.

How do i go about letting my natural curl/wave (it does what it wants...) show through? I don't like blow drying because it makes my hair look poofy and frizzy. Ihave a lot of volume naturally... Do i shower in the morning or at night?

Please Help!

Welcome to the boards have you checked out the newbie boards? They have a bunch of links that are stickied at the top that can give you a starting place as far as techniques and products and everything. Also, I would suggest paying less attention to trying to figure out your curl type and instead trying to figure out your hair properties such as elasticity and porosity (links to figure those out should be on the newbie board also, or in the general hair discussion board stickied at the top). Once you figure those out or get more of an idea of your properties, my next suggestion would be to look on the 2 board or even 3a (since you think you're 2c) and find a few people who have the same/as similar as possible hair properties as you (which you'll probably find in their signature) and take notes on what products they use. If you have questions about their routine, you can always send them a private message; most people on the boards are very helpful. Lastly, once you're looking for product ideas or anything like that, don't be afraid to use the search bar and search the forums. HTT

I shower in the morning because I generally work out in the morning. At least that's the plan, haha! It doesn't really matter when you shower; it's just personal preference. I don't blow dry or diffuse because I'm short of time and lazy. Here are some techniques you might want to check out.
