My wavy hair went straight

I just got my hair cut into a short bob style, like to my jaw line. Now all my waves are gone. I was really hoping for a short wavy bob because I think they are beautiful. AHHHH what happened? Anyone else have this problem?

It helped slightly when I had it changed into more of a shaggy bob (or "sha-bob" as I call them) in July but I was really frustrated so I decided to grow it back out. I'm not sure if my waves were just too weak to be that short or I was styling them completely wrong but I really did try!! Your hair might just be in a bit of shock right now and need a little time to adjust and will go back to normal. I'm sure it looks beautiful!!!!

I just had mine cut to a shoulder length curly shabob and my waves have gone crazy. I was ambivalent about a curly cut, but I'm sold. When my hair is blunt cut, the wave dies down, although I can prod it a wee bit with technique and products.

New to CG since just prior to 3/1/2011!

Hair type: 2b
Texture: Fine
Density: Medium
Porosity: Normal
Elasticity: Normal
Oily scalp
Low-poos: Organix Coconut Milk
Co-washing Conditioner: Suave Coconut, Tresemme Naturals
Rinse Out Dish: GVP Conditioning Balm
Leave In: Silk something from Sally's
Styling: Jessicurls Confident Curls, AG ReCoil, Curl Keeper, KCCC
My hair chin length or shorter is not wavy at all. The longer my hair grows the wavier and curlier it gets! Am gonna keep it just below my shoulder.
Isabella, I think my hair is the same as yours. A few days with this cut and the only wave/curl I'm seeing is the couple of small, I'm guess, 3a curls at my temple, and they are only baby hairs My hair will flip out weird if I don't blow dry and let it dry naturally. And, as always if I let it dry naturally, it sticks flat to my scalp. I wish I'd known it would do this sooner.
No experience with this issue specifically - but just some general thoughts ... Have you tried changing up your routine at all? Maybe diffusing to encourage the waves? Or doing finger twists? Or maybe a different product (maybe your current product is too heavy for your new fabulous do!).
Finally have a routine that works

Low Poo - 2chic Avocado & Olive Oil Ultra-Moist Shampoo
Co-Wash - V05 Passion Fruit Smoothie Conditioner
RO - Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie, Cure Care, GVPCB
LI - KCNT
Stylers - GF Pure Clean Gel, BTZ Noodle Head, LA Looks Sports Gel, Eco Styler Krystal, KCCC (I am a product junkie )

Wash at night, add products, plop in a t-shirt overnight, then diffuse in the morning!! It is great finally getting to sleep in
I agree with the OP...sometimes when you change your length, your hair needs a new or perhaps just a tweaked routine. If you did plopping before you cut, it might be too short for it now ( I personally can't plop regardless of length but that's just me lol). I was also wondering, did your stylist use any products with 'cones in it? Maybe he/she did and you haven't properly removed them if you only co-wash or use a low-poo that doesn't have coco betaine in it. Maybe try clarifying and some new products and/or techniques.

Thanks for the suggestions guy! I never plopped; pretty much just some light scrunching and then diffused. Also, I have a tendency to wear my hair straight a lot. I know bad for the waves but with my hair it is so easy to do. Simply combing wet hair will allow it to dry straight, though not bone straight.

I'll try to switch up my routine. I was still in the process of learning what works for my hair. It is fine (I think) and normal porosity. It has very little shine anymore, probably due to the hair dryer. However, it seems like most products and conditioners just weigh my hair down and straighten it or it make it really greasy.

I have clarified since the cut though but the stylist was more just some one who cuts hair. LOL. No washing or styling at all. Wet cut and and I was out the door. But again, thanks for the suggestions. I'll try to switch some stuff up.
Ok, so I changed my routine a little and used a leave in and mouse and IT CURLED. Still not sure I like it because one side looks really funny. Anyways, here's the pics.
