Usually if I go to sleep (I don't use the cap or a pineapple of anything) I'll wake up with looser curls/waves. That can look very nice and I'll rock that. If I miss my curls I refresh to make them come back. The best way to make hair look wavier from my experiments is to use a lighter product (with a dab hand, not too much), rake it through and don't scrunch up. I can do this very easily with KCCC since it gives me looser curls in general but you can substitute with maybe a different jelly or light hold gel.
