Enhance waves (not curls!)

Hi all!

I'm looking for ways to enhance my 2b waves. Usually if I scrunch product in my hair the bottoms gets quite curly but the top stays flat (trademark of wavy hair). For a long time I've tried to really make my hair super curly like 3a/b. However, I realize that its always going to be wavy with a flat top, and I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions for simply enhancing the loose waves without making them full blown curls?

Thanks!
Vanessa
Anyone has any thoughts on this? I am in need of waves at the top of my head as well. I have tried plopping with a jaw clip on the top of my head but that doesn't do much of a difference.
If its any consolation i think wavy hair looks nice with straight-ish top especially if you have bangs as long as you don't try to force the top to curl because then it just looks messed up. When i try to acquire this look i put less product and don't scrunch as much, comb the top layer of the hair and pin it to the opposite direction I'm going to wear it. And let it dry.

I also put lemon juice in my conditioner and that seemed to help bring the curls/waves up closer to the root. Here are pics.

Usually if I go to sleep (I don't use the cap or a pineapple of anything) I'll wake up with looser curls/waves. That can look very nice and I'll rock that. If I miss my curls I refresh to make them come back. The best way to make hair look wavier from my experiments is to use a lighter product (with a dab hand, not too much), rake it through and don't scrunch up. I can do this very easily with KCCC since it gives me looser curls in general but you can substitute with maybe a different jelly or light hold gel.

Thank you girls for the help. I am currently trying a spray gel with epsom salt. it seems to encourage better waves, more like spirals rather than the S's I have but not much at the top. I really think the henna treatments are weighing down my hair but I LOVE THEM
I have heard of using epsom salt in co washes but not lemon juice...that is a good idea. Maybe even Apple Cider Vinegar could even do something then...I will keep you all update on what I do and what the results are.

Hey new to curlz..I take the lemon juice bottle to the bathroom with me lol. I add enough to fill the bottom of a one cup plastic bowl i keep in the shower..it's about a tablespoon of lemon juice then i add half suave conditioner and half yes to carrots to make in total about a half cup of the conditioner mix. Put it on all over and leave it on for about 5 minutes. As soon as I put it on I can feel the width of my hair thickening i don't know why..i love the results though.
