New & Need a Hair Twin. :)
So, I'm thinking of going modified CG today. I'm kicking the sulfates and cones. I'm going to do my cleansing shampoo today then its off to low poo and co washes for me.
I used to straighten my hair EVERY day. I haven't used my flat iron (except for my bangs) in about 6 months. The results are increasing waves and now some curls.
I've got 2c hair with some spirals forming in the back of my hair. My under layer is 2a on the best day though. I have med. texture hair with Normal to high porosity. (just my top seems to be high, i'm assuming its all the sun and hairspray i used over time) Also i live in GA, USA. high Dew point always.
Anyone wanna give me some pointers in starting out? I'll post up some pictures after i get my wash in.

I can help you mainly with the dews (I also live in GA), since I have similar hair (mine is fine texture, normal porosity and normal elasticity). I would say the best thing is probably to try and make your hair as healthy as possible (both protein and moisture can be your friends, depending on how your hair likes them - try out doing a protein treatment and deep treatment). During the summer, you'll probably want to use less moisture, and more protein if your hair can handle it. I find my hair also likes jelly-type products (like Kinky Curly Curling Custard or As I Am Curling Jelly) with a hard hold gel on top (I tend to mix Biosilk Rock Hard Gelee with Aussie Instant Freeze) and diffusing gets me much perkier waves than air drying.
Do you have any specific questions? That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Hi! I see you're dealing with the same high dew points as me (I live in AL). We may not be hair twins, but I'm experimenting with sealing with grapeseed oil to help the frizz caused by the high dew points and humidity. Some people like EVOO or coconut oil.

well i just did an oatmeal and honey deep condition, but i was wondering what to use for a leave in. I'm making a list before I head to the store, because i've just gone through my bathroom and currently have one no sulfate shampoo, the deep conditioner, and 3 types of gel. I'm in need of a good leave in.

If you go to Target, they carry Kinky Curly products. I like their leave-in quite a bit; Kinky Curly Knot Today. You might also want to try the Kinky Curly Curling Custard which is a popular curl enhancer on the boards.
Otherwise you can just use your regular conditioner for a leave-in. My favorite drugstore conditioners are Tresemme Naturals moisturizing, Yes to Cucumbers and GVP conditioning balm (found at Sally's).

I would also suggest a haircut, just to shape up the layers (a haircut made the biggest difference for me).

actually i just got about two inches off and got her to even out my bottom layer a bit. I'm rather happy with it currently. My hair tends to fall a bit. Also, I usually curl my under layer which I haven't done today. I wish there was some way to make it as wavy/curly as the rest of my hair.

I've found plopping can pull wave out of my bottom layer of hair so I rarely if ever plop. Also, if you diffuse, maybe try diffusing the bottom layer first? I know diffusing back to front has made a huge difference compared to diffusing front to back.

Oh a big help to me when I was first starting out (and now) was a member on here named kathymack. She sells samples of a lot of the higher end products (CJ, Donna Marie, etc), so if there's something you think might work for you, but you don't want to shell out $20 in case it doesn't, you can always test out a sample of it first.

We might be hair twins! I live in MS. High dew points year round. I also straighten my hair (more so in the "winter" months when it's not quite as humid) but from May-October, I retire my flat iron for my natural waves and curls.
If I could ever get rid of my frizz, I would probably retire my flat iron permanently. I also have medium texture and high porosity. 2C mostly, lately my bottom layers want to lay straight or 2A at best.
Frizz is my biggest issue right now, probably alot of heat damage.
I'm not sure how much help I am as a hair twin, but I'm glad I found someone else with similar properties!
