Default Natural products for 2's other than Deva curl?

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum. Long time hair nut and lurker though.

I recently tried the Deva Curl line with OUTSTANDING hair results... went from like a 1C/2A to like a 2A/2B in just 3 days of using it....

Sounds great right??

I wish I could say it was but after 3 days and outstanding "hair" success my scalp started burning up. I did a patch test with the conditioner and no poo on my wrists and sure enough, I'm allergic.

I want to get those same amazing waves but the stylest at my salon said there was nothing else she new of compairable...

Can you guys help me?

Without knowing what you're reacting to, it's hard to give product advice. The ingredient that makes my scalp burn is the wheat protein, which is in Deva's no-poo, but not their low poo. Try a patch test with the low poo and see what happens. If that makes you burn too, all i can suggest is getting samples of a bunch of different poos and testing them to see what you react to and narrow it down from there.

She probably just wants you to keep buying Deva. It kind of makes me annoyed that she just brushed you off with "there's nothing else that compares"... there are TONS of products out there, there's bound to be something for you! You need to determine what ingredient you reacted to. I'm assuming it was probably the wheat protein, but it could be a combination of things. Once you determine the allergy, and figure out your hair properties (fine, medium or coarse? high, medium or low porosity? and so on), maybe you can try some other curl-friendly products from lines either in the drugstore, in salons, or online ones like Curl Junkie, Spiral Solutions, etc.

No sulfates, no cones definatly... ideally pareben free.... I like herbal stuff but it's not nessisary... I'm willing to experiment and if need be waver some if it will help to give me more definition...

Traditional hair care products make my hair fall flat

Here are some pictures of my hair after using a clarifying shampoo with no conditioner and letting it air dry trying not to touch it... which took forever I did this tonight...

These pictures are from when I used the Deva curl for 3 days...

and this shows an example of my hair back about a year ago before I stopped using cones and sulfates on a regular basis... I was also paddle brushing my hair then too...

I want to encurage the most curl I can get to come out naturally in my hair....
