Hair isn't as curly lately?

I have type 2C hair and I use DevaCurl angel after I towel dry my hair and then I spray it with DevaCurl set it free. I did get my hair highlighted recently but i've gotten it colored before and it's had no effect on my curls.

The top layers of my hair lately haven't been as curly as they usually are they're more limp and flat.

I read somewhere that it might be because my hair needs to be more conditioned so recently i've been using loreal paris eversleek sulfate-free humidity defying leave-in creme.

Any idea as to why my hair isn't as curly or what I can do to keep my curls energized?

A need for protein can also cause lack of curl. Whenever the protein / moisture balance is off. If conditioning didn't help, try a protein treatment.

Do you reccomend a homemade protein treatment or where can I buy one?

Homemade: yogurt with egg

Store bought: Any nature's gate conditioner (vitamin shoppe, target, publix, whole foods)

homemade: http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlta...-promised.html

store bought: Aphogee - ApHogee 2-Step Protein Treatment and Balanced Moisturizer (just do the first step and throw away the second), Generic Value Products - GVP Hair Reconstructor: Compare to Joico K-Pak

My fav is only bought online and it is Curl Junkie Repair Me. You can buy it at aveyou.com, curlmart.com or curljunkie.com. aveyou is the cheapest.

Trying to decide on what products to use made my head swim at first. So I just bought DevaCare low-poo, DevaCare One Condition, and Deva Care Arc Angell at first. I knew they were safe and I was able to focus on technique and learning about other products. I still use One condition and the low-poo, but I've switched to using Aussie Instant Freeze for my gel (much less expensive, but similar hold). I've also incorporated Curl Keeper (kind of an anti frizz serum) and AG Re:Coil (a curl enhancer cream) into my routine. Basically, you just need to find products that are sulfate free and silicone free and then see what works for you.

My wave disappears when I cut my hair short too. It's because your waves probably are longer in between bends. What i mean is say that your hair waves/bends every 4 inches or so. If your hair is 16" long, you get 4 bends, so the wave is noticeable. If you cut your hair to 8" you might get 2 bends, so it looks less wavy. whereas someone with tighter curls would still get plenty of curl showing in 8" of hair. Does that make sense?
