Default suave naturals coconut?

so I started using this as my RO on monday.

Day 1: best hairday since CG
Day 3: left it in my hair while shaving. rinsed. added a bit as a LI & put my get in and did a mod. super soaker & plopped for about 10 mintues. When I took my hair down it was already getting frizzy and still wet. I put some tress. naturals on it to try and fix it and it seemed to help, but my hair just felt dry all day.

Is there too much protein or something in the suave? or should I try using a diff. leave in and hope for the best? Anyone else had an issue with this conditioner?

There is protein in the conditioner, could have been the problem. At first, I never found any of the SN's to be moisturizing enough for use as an RO. Now that my hair is healthier, they work when I have my protein/moisture balance right. I know a lot of people here start off using SN coconut & change for various reasons.

Suave naturals coconut does have protein in it. You may not need all the protein, which can in turn make your hair feel dry. If you know your hair properties it will help you determine what your hair needs. This link should help a lot. Live Curly Live Free - Curly Hair Basics

yeah, sorry haven't updated my signature yet.
2c, fine side of normal, porosity is low underneath but the top is a bit more damaged so i'm not sure high or normal?, and I have thick hair and normal elasticity except for my strait underneath layers, which has zero.

i'm wondering if putting a different leave in after using suave would help to balance things out. cause day 1 my hair loved it.

I have similar hair as you. I find a high protein conditioner works fine as a RO, but I need a no protein conditioner for LI. I've been using high protein conditioners like natures gate, suave coconut's protein is much milder.

Red face Suave is ok, Organix is better

Organix is a better brand. Coconut Organix is the best. Suave has s l sulfates. I suggest the sham, cond, deep cond and oil. They are worth the price. Drugstores also sell these at bogo free. Keep your eyes open and get a good deal. Also try drying your hair with an old tee shirt instead of a towel. Towels tend to dry and rough up the cuticle of the hair while it is still wet. I read this in Curly Girl and my hair has looked better since.

Im pretty sure all of the organix conditioners & oils have 'cones in them. The shampoos are well liked by some on here but I absolutely hated the organix coconut line. I tried it before CG & it has gone in the trash. Idk what it was about that stuff & my hair, but it was awful. Not knocking it for everyone, but it left my hair feeling like it hadnt been washed in years.

the conditioners do have cones, otherwise I would be all over them. I actually got my mom the coconut line. I cannot use it because of the egg protein in it. I'm allergic to eggs and don't think putting them on my skin would end well.

went back to just my tress naturals and my hair seems to be back to normal. nice and soft and mmmmmmm frizz. lol. Why must it be so humid.

KSTAN, I've had problems with the SN Coconut too. The first few times I used protein on my hair it LOVED it, so I switched from the SN Ocean Breeze to the SN Coconut as my cowash. Within a week my hair wouldn't hold its wave and was really frizzy. I cut all protein out of my routine and amped up the moisture and it was back to normal after about a week. Now I know I need to balance between moisture and protein, so I kept the SN Coconut but now only use it every now and then. Hope this helps.

yeah. i'm thinking it just doesn't like it everyday. I'm thinking it'll only get used once a week or so now. I'm still on the hunt for fighting frizz though. Its only bad in certain areas of my hair. This certainly is a process.

SN coconut and SN strawberry both made my hair frizzy and straight, but for me I highly doubt it was the protein. (SN strawberry doesn't even have protein) Natures gate and vo5 extra body are both high in protein and I got a different, curly, reaction with them. I don't know what ingredient in SN is the problem for me. I'm going to try SN ocean or mango next though, because they have a different conditioning agent than SN coconut or SN strawberry.

well that could be worth a try. I recently got Suave's clarifying conditioner as my co-wash. I really hope it doesn't do the same thing to my hair.

I started out with SN coconut as well. But, stopped using it within a couple weeks. My hair didn't seem to like the protein & I didn't like how may hair looked. After some trial & error, I cam currently using JC Too Shea! Moisturizing Conditioner. It's more expensive - but I am getting much better results!
