Default Deep Conditioning Treatments

Lots of people have made posts about protein treatments but I was wondering if anyone has any favourite deep conditioning treatments?

I was at Sally's earlier today (and I picked up some AIA curling jelly, excited to try it). I asked the girl at the counter if she could show me some of the popular deep conditioning treatments and told her my hair properties and problems. We ended up reading product labels for several minutes and every single one had cones or protein.

So if you have similar hair properties or if you are all too familiar with the blight of dry hair, please fill me in on what you do to combat this. Whether it's a product or a DIY treatment, I am game for anything.

I LOVE coconut oil. I just occasionally smear some through dry hair, wait a couple of hours, then low-poo the excess out. My hair absorbs it really well and it rinses out of my hair easily (note that this is not true for everyone, so do a strand test first). It is a great hit of moisture, as it can actually penetrate the hair shaft unlike most other oils.

As far as commercially available DTs, I have used Biolage conditioning balm which is a thick, rich conditioner but probably on the lighter end of DTs, and I have used L'Oreal Eversleek DT - which I also really like. Shea Moisture also makes a DT (I haven't tried it yet).

You could also try adding oil and/or honey to your favorite conditioner to ramp up its moisturizing effects.

The GVP conditioning balm at Sally's is CG, thick and moisturizing. But my absolute fav is Curl Junkie Curl Rehab. Very moisturizing but oil heavy if I recall. Could easily weigh down fine hair.

I've heard of people adding honey and coconut oil to their gvpcb. I also love One 'n Only Hydrating Mask. There is a protein at the very end of the list before the preservatives, so there might be less protein than some of the other store-bought DTs.
