Default Sulfate wash before starting?

I read somewhere that doing a sulfate wash before going CG is necessary to get rid of buildup. Is this true?

Yes. It's also important to make sure the shampoo doesn't have any silicones (silicones like to hide in shampoos almost as much as they like to hide in conditioners).

Thanks! I am still trying to figure all of this out. I will check my redken stuff with sulfates and see if it also has silicone in it. Confusing! LOL
