Getting bummed...

Has it been anyone's experience that their hair has been less curly/wavy since they started CG? I do know that my hair gets curlier/wavier as it gets longer (and it's shoulder length right now), but I feel like I'm trying so hard and it just really isn't as wavy/curly as I think it really can be. It used to be a bit above BSL and had a decent amount of curl to it! Now, it's just kind of mildly wavy.

As soon as I figure out how to edit my signature, I'm going to put my product routine in there, but here it is:

Low-poo: L'oreal Evercreme Sulfate Free
RO: Tresemme Naturals
Styling: HETTM or Naturelle Hypoallergenic Gel

I have high porosity, 2b (who knows anymore?) and medium texture some places and a few places with finer texture.

My hair at the top isn't as thick anymore as it used to be b/c I lost a lot of hair during/after pregnancy and it is now growing back in (those pieces are about 2 inches long now). I also have PCOS, so it generally isn't as thick up top as I'd like it to be, either.

I have tried using some of my conditioner as a leave in and it was an epic fail...Super limp hair.

I have tried plopping (not sure if it didn't work b/c my hair is shoulder length but it kind of made my ends frizzy)

I have tried the super soaker method also. While I got good clumping, it lacked volume and was only mildly wavy.

I have also tried the smaster's method. It felt like product overload.

I'm just kind of getting bummed here. Anyone been in these shoes?
Maybe you've got too much moisture in your routine? You may be overconditioning your medium/fine hair, I know Tressemme is a very rich conditioner. A PT or some protein products could help perk your curls right back up
whurly girly (2C/3A).
thick; medium/coarse; low porosity.
hair that is drier than the sahara desert.

LOW-POO: Renpure Organics
CO: L'Oreal EverCreme Cleansing Conditioner
RO: Renpure Keratin Conditioner. New HG!
LI: L'Oreal EverSleek Humidity-Defying LI Creme
Styling: SM Curl Milk, Argan Oil for sealing, sometimes GFPC Gel, some honey for hold, TIGI Control Freak Serum!!
i'd try keeping a photo diary to get an actual comparison from different times and different products. May help you narrow things down.

started CG on 6/25/12.
  • 2c with a strait underneath
  • normal elasticity on top, none on the underneath
  • Fine side of Normal
  • Thick hair
  • Poriosity is a mystery. I think its all over the place.

i recently was having the same problem and found a cone in my shampoo. im new to all this so i dont know of the top of my head if what you are using has cones but i would double and triple check. i kept missing mine because it was hyphenated in the list. also i cant use a leave in at all and must use very light conditioners otherwise my 2c waves will barely give me 2a.
I am new to CG so I kinda feel weird trying to give advice lol but I agree with the girl that suggested using a lighter conditioner. I use Tresemme Naturals as a cowash, but that's because I have super thick and mildly coarse hair and I need a richer conditioner. Maybe trying a lighter conditioner might give you better results? Also, I was using products too heavy for my hair before I started CG and I just had no idea because I was so desperate to weigh down the frizz and it was making my hair less wavy and kind of eh looking so then I was just straightening it. If you're losing your curls i'm guessing that something is weighing your hair down, just got to figure out what it is and once you do those curls will come back in full force. ^_^
I would try protein. The same thing happened to me when I first started CG in November. I had been avoiding protein because I thought my hair's texture was medium. Started using protein and my curls perked right up. Eventually got the hair analysis and found out that my hair's texture is fine. Oops. If your hair feels dry after protein, just add moisture. It can be a tricky balance to find, but it's a must to get your best hair.
