Default gummy roots

i have been doing cg for 2 months now and recently discovered i had a cone in my shampoo. my waves starting falling or not forming and i had actual water beads on my roots after showering. i assumed was from buildup and shampooed with a sulfate asap and started over. my waves have perked back up a lot but my roots still feel gross. i have since gotten a low poo with no cones. i used it to shampoo twice now and i still feel gross. is this still from build up or could it be that my hair is transitioning since it didn't 2 months ago from using the wrong products. any input would be appreciated. tia!

Mine was gummy when I switch to sulfate free shampoo too. It took about 4 weeks for my scalp to stop overproducing oil (caused by sulfates stripping my scalp before). Also, I learned quickly that the more I rubbed/massaged my scalp during low pooing or co-washing, the less goopy my roots looked. So now I use low poo on my scalp and really, really rub/massage my scalp. Then when I rinse it out, I part my hair in sections so the water can get to my scalp and wash all the dead cells/sebum/goop away, and I rub some more. Seriously, my routine is a n upper body workout at this point. lol.....
