Default i hate curl creams!

i used to use curl creams before i started the CG method and i liked them a lot. so when i went looking for products in the beginning, i purchased a couple that are supposed to be really good: AG re:coil and CJ CCCCL. ugh! they just feel terrible in my hair. the results actually look nice, but i don't know if i can deal with the soft coated feeling my hair gets. can anyone relate? any recommendations? the re:coil doesn't feel AS bad in my hair as the CCCCL. i've tried them in different dew points, but still not feeling them.

How much are you using? I love CCCCL but a quarter sized amount is more than enough for me.

I don't like Re:Coil either. It's super sticky, and it seems to dry out my hair so much all it can do is frizz.

Have you tried using a mousse? A lot of people here with "type 2" curls love to use mousse for hold and moisture because it has such a light texture.

Maybe a gel-cream like Biotera Curl Cream would feel better in your hair than more lotion-like products.

What curl creams did you use before CG?

They both have polyquats! ReCoil 55 and 10, CCCC-lite 10 and 7,

When I use polyquats (4, 7 and/or 10), I get frizz even when wet. I was told that I couldn't possibly have polyquat buildup, but I need to wash them out with a stronger surfactant to remove them.

Why don't you try using some curl creams that don't have the chemicals??

...I don't mean to hijack...but kathymack, do you think polyquats could be a culprit addresses here? What is WITH one section of my hair?

+1 ... no matter how little I use, it's always plenty once I emulsify it in my hands. I have to be very careful not to overdo or my hair is flat and limp.

I was having the same problem. Before CG I loved my curl cremes, but lately the ones i've tried are just sticky or make my hair frizz. Last week though I tried Organix Curl creme with argon oil...omg I LOVE this stuff! I prefer curl cremes only because I don't like to use gel, or a lot of gel. Sometimes I can use a nice mousse like Pantene curly moisturizing whip that's got a good hold but doesn't feel like it does, feels like you didn't put anything in your hair, totally natural feeling.

They could. Try clarifying and staying away from chemicals, especially polyquats!

I used to use curly sexy hair, John freida secret weapon, and bumble and bumble. I've also tried MD lemon yogurt smoothie with a similar result post cg. It seems like my hair doesn't love moisturizing products. My hair analysis came back with medium porosity, but I'm wondering if I'm really low porosity after these results.

Sorry similar results with the MD meaning coated feeling and limp hair.

Why do you think this means you're low porosity?? I'm low porosity. When I first discovered the MD products, I used one 5 or 6 times a week for styling with no coated feeling. I use any of the richer products in minute amounts (my hair density has diminished with age, thyroid and a medication I take.)

Next thought--are you using too much product?? It can take my hair hours to absorb product after it dries. It keeps getting better through out the day.

I thought it meant low porosity because the product wasn't penetrating and just sitting on top. Maybe I am using too much product. I've been using like a quarter sized dollop of ccccl on each side of my head for my longer than shoulder length hair. Less of course for the MD.

I have really good results with Kccc, ufdcm, and ckcj. Yay for curl mart carrying ck products!

If it's one product that isn't penetrating, it's not the low porosity--it's an ingredient. If it's all products that take a LONG time to absorb, it's low porosity.

The products you that are giving you good results are jelly products that don't contain chemicals. For me, they don't absorb in the same manner as a curl cream, they form a "cast" that provides hold and moisture.
