Can I pull off this hairstyle?

My 2b (sometimes 2a) hair has been slightly below armpit-length for the past 4-5 years, more or less. I almost always wear it in a ponytail because it is thick and one length, so it's hard to manage. I am getting very tired of it, and it is also annoying because I live in TX where it is warm for 2/3 of the year. I really like Carrie Brownstein's haircut (without the shorter bangs), but I'm not sure if I can pull it off due to my hair type and face shape. How hard would it be to manage?
Here are a couple of pictures of what my hair looks like, and of Carrie Brownstein's hair.

sorry to say this, but no way in hell. you would have to blow it out every day. you could probably have a cute short cut, but it would not look like her hair.
2b/c wavy modified CG since July 2012
medium texture, normal porosity, normal elasticity
hair likes protein, doesn't like oils, easily OC'd

low poo: JCHCC, CJGCS
RO/co-wash/LI: YTCarrots, DB Pumpkin Seed
stylers: a bunch of stylers that are all pretty much the same (KCCC, UFDCM, CRCM, CKCJ) or ArcAngel if I need more hold
DT/PT: CJRM, CNPF
+1
remember, with all advice or suggestions for your hair, YMMV!!
My hair:
2b wavy, medium texture, low porosity, med-high density. Protein finicky.
My routine:
Cleansing: DCNP, every 4-5 days (occasionally use CJ cleansers).
RO: CJSC, occasionally use JCDC
LI: KCKT or CJSL
Gel: KCCC, CJCIAB for 2nd day hair (sometimes third)

Heat is my friend: warm water rinses, steam caps, and diffuse dry. I love CLU cloths and my Denman.
I was thinking I probably couldn't pull it off, but does anyone have any other ideas for a shorter cut?
Also, does blow it out mean blow-dry? (sorry I'm new)
Your hair will probably look extremely cute short. But it won't look like that. Look at some of the pictures on this site, and especially on this thread: Curly Bobs Unite! What's to like about it.. Look for pics of people with a curl pattern resembling yours. You will see how cute your hair can be at a shorter length, and I think you will like the possibilities. I think your own curl pattern will look great on you at any length, as long as it is cut and cared for well.
Be Happy!

Experimenting with too many products to name here. All this great info keeps my head spinning.
thanks for a more helpful answer than mine, raindear

but yes, blowing out means blow drying. and not just with a hair dryer a la diffusing, but brushing it straight at the same time. if you've never done it, it could be frustrating for you to try to achieve that look.

Looking at your hair I find it more likely that it would curl up more if you cut it shorter...But I do think it would be a good length for your hair. You'd need the layers to be done sort of carefully to let it fall and not just stack out, and if it looked pretty relaxed and wavy you could blow out the bangs and not have it be dissonant.
