Default curl creams?

hi everyone! so I'm really new to CG - I've been doing it for a couple weeks. I'm 2B - I'm using a prescription shampoo (dry scalp issues, so I can't drop it), Suave Naturals Tropical Coconut as my cowash & leave-in, and Organix Coconut condish as my rinse-out. I've been going back and forth from HETT gel and Pantene Curl-Defining Mousse, and I'm getting frustrated. ): today I used the mousse and it worked great, but then in the afternoon it was all frizz. :l the same goes with the gel, it'll be styled well but with lots of flyaways and frizz. pre-CG I used to use Garnier Fructis Curl Sculpting Cream Gel, which worked really well, but dimethicone is the 2nd ingredient. ):
so does anyone have any (preferably affordable drugstore) recommendations on anything like the cream gel, but is CG-friendly or close to it?

I don't really know what your price range is but have you tried DevaCurl? Also, L'oreal has a mousse and a gel that are alcohol free but idk about 'cones or anything like that.

I actually mix my Organix Moroccan Curling Perfection Curling Creme with gel (I use ecostyler) and it works great to give me definition without the frizz. I mean there are some days where it's going to frizz no matter what. I live in a hot place where the dews can get high but this is probably the best combo for me that i've used yet and its CG friendly. ^_^

Edited: I want to add that Pantene also makes a great spray gel. I think it's called "Curly" curl enhancing spray gel. It's completely CG friendly and I use this on my hair a couple of ways. It's great on dry hair as a sort of refresher and also to wet hair if you want a light hold or on top of gel to get more hold . It leaves my hair soft and takes a lot of the frizz away. They also have a curl defining no crunch whip that is really great and adds great definition, but I do use it on top of second day hair after I spritz it with a little water, it doesn't have a lot of hold, very light so it's good for refreshing hair in the morning. I know the two of these are CG friendly, not sure about their regular curly mousse though.

I know that I was initially very wary of putting gel into my long curly hair (80's flashback, anyone?), but nothing has worked better to keep my curls defined with minimal frizz. Some days I use curl creams or enhancers, but other days I just use gel over a leave-in conditioner. If you know your hair properties (texture, porosity, etc), it will help you narrow down products, since certain ingredients seem to play better with some types of hair and not others.

I don't know if this would even be an issue for you since you're using a prescription shampoo (which may have sulfates?), but I'm pretty sure most of the Organix conditioners have 'cones in them, which could be causing frizz, I think? I had a horrible time a few months ago (pre-CG) with a different flavor of Organix conditioner and build-up (it was BAD. Thank goodness for this site!)

An another note, I had a pretty dry scalp as well (I live in a dry climate), but I've noticed some great improvement now that I'm CG and not using a harsh shampoo (and massaging my scalp properly, which I never did before, oops!) Yours may get better too (CG definitely gives your hair more moisture)
