Long waves?

Hey ladies! I have been lurking about lately. I have been growing out my hair for about 18 months now and have been suffering through some serious hair boredom. Strait, wavy, up, down... I just haven't been very happy. Anyway, I am looking for pictures of long wavy hair and they are SO hard to find!

Here is the ONE I found that I like...

I have a couple new ones of my hair in my fotki, but I'll post on here too.

I'm hoping for some ideas to keep me from getting bored with my hair and also for some great longer styles. I'm hoping for some cuts that are interesting and edgier than just a strait up chop. Any takers?

I'm sorry, I have no idea what you should do w/ your hair... maybe you should find a stylist w/ a vibe you like and get his/her opinion...

I had to say though... Your hair looks EXACTLY like mine. Seriously, that picture you just posted could be me! I'm sorry if I seem really excited about this, but I have literally never meet anyone w/ hair just like mine (not even my mother, and I'm her clone).

I just had to share! Good luck w/ your haircut journey

It's always nice to find another hair "twin"! That was a pretty early in the day so it was especially nice looking. Luck girl if your hair stays like that! You'll have to give me some tips - LOL!

I have a hair dresser that I really like, but she doesn't try to guess what you like. She likes to see pictures. She has done a great job when I've let her do whatever she wanted, but "layers" and "long" and "V-shaped" doesn't give her much to go on. Anyway, I must have asked a HARD question because noone else has even tried yet! LOL!

Haha! My hair STAY a certain way... is that even possible? LOL
I should say though, since I went CG and moved to SLC, my hair does look a little different than yours. It's not quite as voluminous as before. Do you shampoo? I'm kinda missing my "big hair"

Anyway, I know that I can't really give you advice on a hair cut b/c I've always been so terrified to try anything new! Once I found a cut (yours now) that made my texture work, I just stuck w/ it. I recently got the Deva cut, but it's still pretty much the same thing.

I really like my long hair, but if I were going to get it cut I'd want it to look like SJP's when she cut it short. Tons of volume and soft kinda wavy curls. Maybe you could go w/ a "funkier" version of that...

I like the SJP cut too, but I'm hoping to go longer than I am though. I know that when my hair was really long I had NO idea what I was doing so it'll look different. I didn't even condition until I was 16 and then it was the age of the Mail n' Tail, so what I was using wasn't even for humans - LOL!

I do shampoo. I use a lowpoo? It is Aloe Vera based and fab. This lady in my hometown makes it herself and is SO great. She is a 2C too. I'm encouraging her to carry the Curly Girl book. My volume is mostly at the start of the day and second day is fairly flat. Takes alot of homemade spray to pop it back up! I have to say I love my big hair too! As long as I don't get poodle-like or pyramidish I'm cool.

If I find anything myself I'll post it on here...

I don't know what you're getting bored about, your hair is looking great!
That pic you posted of the v cut looks like lots of layers and the V effect is heightened by the face that the front pieces are over her shoulder so you get a straight line view if you know what I mean.
That bottom layer being long gives it more of that V shape. Boy she has long hair! I'm just shooting for BSL, I'll take a V shape though since I cut mine in layers I'll probably have that as it gets longer. The middle hair on most people tends to grow faster so say if the hair is cut in a U shape as it grows it will make a V, then just don't correct it in the trim

Low porosity, medium texture.

If it smells good put it in your hair, if it tastes good spit it out!
Elizabeth Jagger (one of Mick's many children! ) also has very pretty long waves. Here's a link to a pic from the back:

I channel surfed by american idol and thought of this thread, this Amy girl has rather pretty long waves. Nice to see more wavy heads out there

Fine Wavy (2a)
Weeklyish shampoo with CO's inbetween to keep down the grease.
Thank you thankyou thankyou! I have decided to grow it long. waist long if I can stand it like that. Trouble being that at that length, sitting in a chair messed the waves up. Sigh. Oh well. We'll see how it goes!

Thanks again!

Yay! (I'm growing mine too, so I like to hear other people's similar stories). Mine is the longest it's been in years - I'll try to post some pics soon. I need the weather to warm up a little though - the cold air has been making it SO flat, no matter what I do!

Keep us posted HeatherDawn!
Good luck HD. I've always wanted long hair but when mine gets to a certain length (5 inches or so below the shoulders) I ALWAYS end up chopping it off back up to my shoulders. Then I kick myself when I see of photo of it long!
Please post updates on products and tricks you discover as you go, I'm keen (of course) to grow mine out again.
