Curl loss

I used to have definite 3a hair, but now it's more like 2c on good days,2b most of the time... I really want my curls back!!! I started straightening my hair a lot this year since I got onto a major gymnastics team, and they require tamed down hair... I am on the CG method, and I use the rake and shake method.. I'm very good to my hair, it's very healthy and soft... My hair looks awful!!! Where have my curls gone and how can I get them back??Attachment 28997

First of all, I think your hair's curl pattern still looks really nice! :)

It is possible that your hair's curl pattern has just changed over time. If I had to guess though, I'd say that your hair may be getting damaged, and therefore straighter, from all that straightening.

So I guess try cutting down on flat ironing as much as possible? Do you have the type of hair that you can blow dry straight? (I do, but my waves are really weak) Otherwise, use the lowest heat setting that you possibly can.

I'm actually more than somewhat disappointed that they require you to straighten your hair.

They don't necessarily require it, per say. But we are all required to have the same hair style, a ponytail with the sides french braided, and the way my curls are, they never stay in a ponytail. So, half way through, my hair will look ridiculous and poufy and messy. My coach doesn't like that, so I have to flat iron it. Or at least blow dry it.
