I'm getting a haircut this weekend with this stylist that I've never been to. she's a curly/wavy hair specialist and I've read a lot of reviews about her and how she's really good, but one thing that puts me off is that she does is "dry" haircuts. Every time I get dry haircuts I get split ends pretty much a day after the cut. also I wanted to get my hair thinned out and it doesn't really harm follicles if its done wet. so my question is how do I tell her I want her to cut my hair wet? I don't want to seem rude but I don't want to pay money for my hair to get it not exactally how I want it to be. please help!!

Honestly, just tell her! Be nice, but assertive. "I've had bad experiences with dry cuts in the past. I know that you are very well-known for your dry cuts a
but I would really be a lot more comfortable if you cut my hair wet instead. In my experience, wet cuts work better for my particular type of hair." and just leave it at that. If she's any good, she'll respect your wishes. If not? Leave. A hair stylist is being paid to work with what you want and adapt it to what is possible. They are not being paid to decide to do what they do for everyone else, with no input from you.

Bottom line: be friendly and polite, but firm. "I trust your skills/knowledge but I simply do not like dry cuts." should be enough, really.

I'm a little confused about why you're going to this stylist in the first place. She specialized in dry cuts. Wouldn't you want someone who specialized in wet cuts? Which is actually easier to find!

elizard- Im going to her because she's specialized in curls and waves, which is something that I've never had in a stylist before. but I've done some thinking and decided that maybe I should just go with it and just ask her what she thinks would be good for my hair. I don't know if you can tell but I'm very pansy-like when it comes to cutting my hair :P

I, too, don't understand why you're going to a curly specialist, who does dry cuts--and want to tell her to cut your hair wet, thin it (which is a big no-no.) If she has great reviews, discuss your concerns and let her cut your hair.

If you're not going to let her do her thing, don't go and don't spend the money.
