Talking Getting a mohawk! Advice/personal experience?

I'm reposting this from general discussion to get some perspective from other wavies. I'm actually getting the cut today! Any advice/pics/support would be greatly appreciated! TIA

I'm getting a mohawk sometime this week and I've never had one before. My friend is doing it for me. He has done mohawks for lots of other people and done his own on several occasions. Anyone have any pics of their own mohawks or personal experience/advice? My hair is slightly past my collar bone and I plan on wearing my mohawk down most of the time. Maybe I shouldn't be shaving the sides of my head in wintertime...lol

Well, I don't know how you're planning on getting your mohawk cut specifically but I really love Evan Rachel Wood's. I guess you might call it a fauxhawk since it's not shaved on the sides but I think it's modern and cute and a little more feminine which is my style.

Make sure you post pics! I bet it will look awesome!

Thanks for the support dannegerous. I got it done last night but he went easy and left the sides not too short to see if I wanted to cut off more later. They are a little longer than I want so I am getting my sides shaved shorter tonight. I will definitely post pics!

Loving the hawk! Will post pics soon. I'm very bad with computers, unfortunately, so give me some time :/ I think this is a great hairstyle for those with dense/superdense hair who want it thinned out and don't mind an alternative hairstyle. I wear it to one side most of the time. Trying to keep hair healthy with a hawk is kind of difficult. I have friends who want to put tons of glue and hairspray in it yikes! Any advice on how to put it up without glue/hairspray, etc? Some hair accessories perhaps? Love being curly and with a hawk. Never felt more like myself!
