personal questions for 2's
Just a couple of questions for you all if you don't mind.
I' used to always think I had thick hair. Now that I look at it more, I realize i have some really coarse, black hairs with lots of texture, and the majority though is more medium thickness (diameter), not as black and not as much texture. Does that mean that my hair is changing and I have a problem, or is it normal to have variances there. I know my ponytail would be thicker like it used to be if they were all coarse .
2) I sleep with a low ponytail/braid every night, and even though I go to bed with volume and curls, the next day it's completeyl flat and looks like I lost half my hair. Is that normal with curlies? when I used to brush, the volume would stay relatively the same night/ or day and this freaks me out a bit! thanks, hope you all will be motivated to share.
My hair has a variety of textures and curl patterns, even. My underlayer is thin and stick straight. The rest of my hair is mostly medium texture. Maybe about 5% of my hair is thick, coarse, and somehow kinky. I wouldn't think you'd have anything to be worried about as long as you're not experiencing any excessive hair loss.
Here's an interesting article:
Why Does Hair Texture Change Throughout Life?
My ponytail has gotten smaller too over over the past 10 years (I'm 24). I haven't experienced any noticeable hair loss though, so who knows? It might just be getting older.
My hair is always flatter in the morning after sleeping on it. I sometimes braid my hair or put it in a low ponytail during the day in an attempt to make it less poofy/voluminous when I let it down. So yes, I guess all of that is normal for me. Have you tried pineapple-ing at night?
Thanks at least I don't feel like the only one with this situation. It's weird, how I never paid attention to my hair, but I had curls as a little one, and it got straight (and it got brushed) but man in my teens, it was thick, poofy and big. Now again, its in curls, ringlets/waves, but just not the same volume, and yes, this smaller ponytail to what I remember, I used to break elastics and clips and not anymore, not even close. But yet, I have no patterns or anything (thank God) Maybe it will change again, or like you said, and the article, maybe it's just normal for me, and my hair pattern changed. I'm about like you with very few coarse ones, mostly medium texture/thick hairs and some finer ones. :lurk:
In the morning, my hair is flat in most places, but sticks up where it shouldn't.
I also tangle at the nape.
