Help with finding a CG approved mousse
Hello 2s! I've been trying to find my mom (who is a 2 but has serious 3 potential) a CG approved mousse. I think I found one via the Pantene curl series but it seems like it might be drying for the hair over time and that's not too good because her hair is colored. It's not that damaged though. It's actually thick and very strong. But since she's about to go full on CG we don't want to shock her hair too much-we probably need to baby it, right? Lots of moisturizers. Let me know if anything comes to mind. I'd be very grateful.

lari78, that DOES help. Thank you. If anyone has any suggestions on as to what to avoid I'd be happy to read it.

I think most mousses are CG. Herbal essences totally twisted is CG and I used to use it a lot but now I just use gel. My hair doesn't really get dry so I can't comment on that.

You have to read labels - many mousses have silicones, just like many gels and other styling products.
Lots here use Got2B mousse - is CG, cheap, and at any drugstore (it has one PEG-modified water soluble 'cone more than halfway down the list) and works well for me, so it's in my occasional rotation. It contains castor oil which doesn't agree with my hair if I use it all the time, but many love it. I still use a bit of gel on top of it for additional hold.
They also have this new one I 'heard' somewhere here is supposed to be good, but I haven't tried it (drugstore.com or Walgreen's didn't have it on their sites). The ingredient list looks the same as for the other one, so I wonder if it's actually been updated for this new version.
Joiwhip mousse is CG and liked by mousse users, but it's more costly. I used to use and like it when it was called Joico I.C.E. Whip, but have just pretty much gotten away from mousse since then except for the occasional use of Got2B - too many other things to play with, LOL.
Herbal Essence mousses are CG and some like them, but I hated Totally Twisted. Made my hair a tacky, sticky mess, so I never tried any of their other formulations.

I've used Pantene Silky Moisture Whip a couple of times this week and it hasn't dried my hair out. It's a little denser than typical mousse - creamier - so maybe that helps it not be drying for me.

I use mousse pretty much every day. If I had to pick one product I'd pick mousse. Many times it's my only styler, sometimes I layer it over gel. My favorite is Herbal Essence Totally Twisted, but I also like John Frieda and Tigi Strong mousse.

I have just started using Giovanni natural mousse. It is silicone-free, so CG friendly. (It's at WalMart, and other stores I'm sure, near the natural products--Burt's Bees, Yes to Carrots, and the like--not with the regular hair products.) I have not found it to be drying so far, but then again, I've only used it three times. As a side note, I am finding it to have some curl-enhancing power, even though it is not marketed as such! Hope this gives another option! Good luck!

You guysssss! (I am intermittently fanning my face, squealing girlishly and fighting back grateful tears as I type.) I knew I could count on the nc community to help out me and my dear mom. I'm so happy this thread has been revived. I am going to look into all of the suggestions and take mom shopping perhaps later today. Well, first I should get some work done but then I'm off and armed with a plethora of suggestions. This has been very helpful. Thanks so much.

I *think* the ingredients are cg in the Nexxus pro mend split end binding mousse. I finish my hair with it and it gives me great hold.
