Talking Finally going CG!!!

I have been CG modified for a while but noticed that some products still had cones in them. Today I start my first attempt at pure CG no sulfates or cones. I would like to know what products have worked best and which ones really hold curls. I am looking to buy SM organic shea butter curl shampoo...has anyone tried it? Also about hair routines that have worked. Before and after pics would be much appreciated. Also if anyone knows of a good salon that knows how to cut curly hair in the miami, fl area. Im in desperate need of a haircut but i always get the pyramid effect. Thanks for the help & sorry for the long post.

Welcome and congratulations on going CG!

I've never used that shampoo, and I'm FAR from the Miami area (I wish I were, it's cold in Minnesota!), but here's a before and after thread for wavies: Before/After for Wavies

Hard hold gels seem to do really well at holding waves (LA Looks, Aussie Instant Freeze, Biosilk Hard Rock Gelee).

Thanks I'm excited lol

I've heard there's been bad snow storms up north the coldest it got here was in the 40s n I was freezing lol hope you're staying warm.

I've tried LA gel but it leaves my hair too crunchy even after I SOTC. I been thinking of trying Aussie gels since I've heard them mentioned in other posts. Any experience with this brand? Also any advice on 2nd day hair? So far I just put it in a bun lol thanks for your help.

I think the high temp today was around 40, which felt like spring! Alas, by Monday, the high will be 10 degrees...

I currently have the LA Looks Mega Mega Hold Gel (yellow) and Aussie Instant Freeze Gel. I think that Aussie Instant Freeze has more crunch than the LA Looks yellow bottle. LA Looks has gels with varying degrees of hold, so maybe you could try one with less hold? Just a thought. I also really like the Garnier Fructis Spray Gel, which has less hold than both of them.

I don't do second day hair, though I should probably try. I have a really oily scalp, and I have my whole life, so I'm really really weird about having my hair not be the least bit oily. It's kind of a paranoia now. I co-wash my hair every other day and low poo (sulfate-free shampoo) the other days.

Kudos for doing second day hair, even if it's just a bun.

Wow 10 degrees that's crazy it's getting back to normal temp here 70-80 tho some nights it can get nippy.

I might try a different kind of gel from LA if this one doesn't work out. I just got SNS curl activating gel. As for oily scalp I know what you mean I have that issue too but since I fried my hair when I dyed it red I think my hair need some lol I cowash every 2 days and low poo on the weekend with a PT as well. I am planning on buying a satin pillow case since frizz is a big issue. Lets see how it goes if it works out ill post the routine just in case you ever wanna give it a try
