Default Need a new routine!

Hey everyone! so I'm new to the forum and I have 2c/3a hair type. Im looking for a new routine and new products. When I was a kid, I had stick straight hair until I turned 13, when it turned poofy. For about 5 years I blowdried/straightened my hair, not really knowing I had curls underneath the frizz. One night I went to bed with my hair wet, and when I woke up in the morning, I had totally curly hair, lol. At school, people thought I had a perm. Because dippity-do was the only gel in my house at the time, i started using it, and 6 years later, I'm still using it. lol.

So I'm looking for a gel that will help define my curls and make them sleeker. I need something with a strong hold as my hair tends to get frizzy.

I don't really have a 'routine'. I wash my hair, brush it out (my hair is so knotty finger combing isnt really an option - I've tried it and it dries in a knotty mess and looks like I've had dreadlocks that are coming out ) and then I just put dippity-do in it and flip my head over a few times and let it air dry. The whole process takes about 5 minutes, which I love.

Would anyone like to share some new gels or shampoos? or routine advice? I use tresemme right not for curly hair.

Thanks!

The best way to choose products/ingredients is by hair properties. Here's a link to help you with yours Live Curly Live Free - Curly Hair Basics Once you determine your properties, look for people with hair like yours and see what they use (in signatures.) It's the best place to start.

Are you brushing it after you get out of the shower? What kind of brush are you using? I've had a lot of success using a wide tooth comb in the shower while it's slathered in conditioner instead brushing or combing once I'm out of the shower. Less breakage that way.
