looking for a good product (or two)

I've been at this CG thing for a while now, and have had some hits and misses, but nothing that's really knocked it out of the park. I'm looking for a styling product--hopefully just one--and a conditioner. I was hoping some of you chemists might be able to make suggestions based on what has and hasn't worked.

Conditioner:
Desert essences coconut works really well, though it's very rich for super-fine, thin hair like mine. But it smells so strongly I can't use it without major allergies. The DE fragrance-free agrees with my nose, but not my hair--makes it limp and greasy looking. I'm 0 for 2 there. I use mill creek keratin as a refresher on 2nd/3rd day hair but if used as a conditioner, grease-bomb again. It does agree with my hair pretty well, though, if used sparingly.

Product:
I've tried KMFUM, Hugo Naturals gel, Giovanni LA Naturals, and Alaffia beautiful curls. The Alaffia is the nicest finish, very shiny and healthy looking, but makes the waves limp. The LA naturals at least does hold, but always looks product-y. The first two make my hair look greasy and don't hold the wave at all.

So, I've bought a lot of stuff, but not really wound up with that much I can use.

Any suggestions to help me have a better chance with the next round of purchases?

If it helps, I think I'm probably high porosity, normal elasticity. The hair's extremely fine and seems to love protein, um, a lot. I can do IAGal's gelatin PT every weekend, without even conditioning afterward, and my hair loves it. I use SM hibiscus shampoo and BS/ACV in rotation, I'm not crazy about the SM but it's adequate I guess.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I don't know what to suggest specifically. Fine hair does generally like protein though. Are you wanting to use natural products? Are you open to buying online?
Coarse texture, normal-high porosity, normal elasticity (Komaza Care), very weak waves
cleanser: Redken Fresh Curls Shampoo, CJ Daily Fix

rinse out: GVP Conditioning Balm, CJ Repair Me, CJ Smoothing

jellies/creams: CR Curl Maker, KCCC, UFD Curly Magic
gels: CJ CQ, BRHG

Thanks for the replies!

Yes, I do try to stick with reasonably natural stuff, in part because I have a ton of allergies and it's at least easier to identify stuff I might be allergic to if it's botanical. I am def. open to buying online too.

I am using a ton of protein (IAGal's jello-head)--my hair seems to love it, and I can give it a hard hit once a week without even needing to condition after. Most of my hair is...really, really fine. Like, you can barely see it fine.

RE: the whole porosity thing, I'm basing that on the at-home indicators I've read on the boards here, especially the fact that it wets and dries incredibly quickly. I'm reasonably sure about the porosity, less sure about the elasticity.

I have really fine hair too. I get over conditioned easily, but my hair tangles like crazy, cuz it's so fine. I just started using curly sexy power mousse spray and I really love it. Though it's only been two days, lol! I can't remember the price of it.

I use deva lo-poo and suave natural coconut condish. My leave in is expensive tho. Id love to find something a little cheaper.

My hair loves protein, plopping, and diffusing! Trying to find a way to style and air dry.
Hey, AkGirl, I get overconditioned really easily too.

I have yet to find anything that really works well as a true leave-in, but I do use the Mill Creek Keratin as almost like a sealer. It has oils high on the list though so if you're a no-oils type it's not the greatest.
