30 white hairs for a 32 year old

Like Tree2Likes

Yes it's the shock. No one ever told me that white hairs were for people our age and I never noticed them in people our age when I was little, so I guess I wasn't prepared for it. Even in my mom when she was in her 40's I never noticed, I saw her dye, but never saw roots. So I didn't know they grew back so fast and could be seen in the mirror a week after coloring. I just thought they were for old people. The other thing that makes it hard, is that everyone else colors so you feel like you're the only one in the world. The other thing is when they come on so fast, change is hard, we've gotta have chill I know. but having support with others going through the same thing does make it feel better. Thanks so much for sharing and like I said, keep in touch, eh!

And its true for most people grays are a reminder that we're getting old more than anything else. I just wanted natural 'virgin' hair but i might be too late wah wah lol

I know. . . . it's hard, I never was one for dyeing my hair de gusto, I have always been happy with my natural hair color. Plus, with our dark hair, it's hard to change colors without major damage. but with this increase of new color, I might have to become blonde sooner than I expected or desired!! Do keep in touch.

My mom went blonde after being a Burgundy head for many years. I think the blonde helps hide the grays but it can also make your hair more prone to damage and you will become a slave to it unless you don't mind lol. I'm thinking of just rocking my grays like it's in and make sure that my hair looks as healthy as it can.

Hey there! I know what you mean, we can't win for trying right! I right now have a new hair, my husband made me feel bad cuz he said the ones right in front of the ear are for old people, and I have a new one there that is like a light blonde or white, still can't tell. Crossing fingers. So seriously. .. you have low density hair too?? That's so weird! When I used to brush, everyone thought I had tons of hair cuz it's thick and it was bushy, but seriously my hair is not heavy, my braids are thin, and when it's curly (wavy) it looks full, but it's just air. But compared to my daughter, she has tons more hair than I do (its not curly but it's just so much more) But I always thought I had so much hair and in reality, no! Most curlies are opposite of me that's why I can't believe that not only are we with white hairs, but also same quantity of hair more or less, no??

Yeah i definitely have low density and that is why i stay away from ponytails because low density plus a flat head plus wavy hair equals a ugly mess lol..but i discovered something new this past week. After wondering why my hair was getting weighted down the next day and trying different things i started adding LEMON JUICE to my conditioner. It. Is. Awesome!. It gives my hair volume for more than two days and it makes it gorgeously shiny. I didn't even have to blow dry my bangs just brushed them to the side and pinned them until they dried and they look naturally wavy straight and shiny. I'm not sure if in the long run the lemon juice will dry hair out but in the mean time I'll keep using it every time i condition. I know this topic is about grays but i thought I'd share with you since I'm trying to ignore my grays for now. I did find 2 more lol on the top of my head. I clipped my hair up in different sections after it was dry and i felt like a medieval princess hahaha

My hair is more on the medium side very frizzy with a lot of coarse hairs poking out that i was wondering where the heck they came from because they looked so different from the rest. I read on some website that it's possible to have mixed hair. The lemon juice helps with the frizz too i think because that's the only thing i changed from my routine the past week.

Your posts make me feel so good, not because you too, find more white hairs, but because I feel like I"m not the only one going through this frustration. Like my husband has always said, "If you look, you will find" And for me, it's always true. Like I said, I've got this new one coming on right on the hairline, the worst!! Blonde or white, still yet to be determined, but not my normal color let's just say that!! I swear, some of these poor hairs fight to retain color, I've seen some that go from brown, to blonde to white. Anyways. . . enough about that!
Lemon juice giving volume, I guess, since it must get rid of all oil. I find that too, when I use shampoo, lowpoo I mean, I get my "before" volume back when I used to brush, but then I sleep on it or pull it back and it's flat the next day. I don't get it, it used to stay poofy. But my hubbie says that now that it's used to curling up, it quickly flattens out, who knows. Do you mean you co-wash with conditioner?? I don't. I only water rinse or lowpoo, so I don't think I could use that. Unless I just put it in my conditioner that I use to conditioner my hair, not scalp. That's what I was wondering: did you use the condition/lemon in your hair only or scalp too?? I get the itchies, but after I lowpoo which maks me think I have dry scalp not dandruff.
My routine: wow, I tried so much and now I've just laxed on routines (since I worry about whites) and now I have a routine that seems to work. When I want to get my hair to do it's ringlet thing, I either lowpoo or water rinse, it has to get completely wet. Then I put in my conditioner, usually like a balanced one since I don 't do protein or deep conditioning (no time) and I leave that it while I bathe, then I comb through or finger-comb. If I want more volume. I just finger comb in the shower as I rinse out the conditioner. Then I usually don't use leave in and I"ll comb through out of the shower, to separate and get more volume. Then I"ll scrunch it. Wait a while then I either add in a cream/gel or a leave in and scrunch. Then I get more volume and some soft curls. I don't like the gel/hard curls, that leaves me with no volume, and definition is never perfect anyways. Either way they flatten out in the night anyways, so I'd rather deal with soft flat curls, instead of crunchy ones. If I only comb or finger comb in the shower, and don't comb outside of the shower, then I get fatter curls but less quantity. I find a leave in with a gel/cream, is too heavy for my hair. I guess I could experiment more, but for now, that's what I've been doing.

How about you?? Now I'm excited to try the lemon juice but wanted to find out first if you applied it to scalp and/or hair only!! It's definitely a good clarifier. I like the fact that if kept your volume up despite sleep/etc. etc.

and yes that's my hair exactly. I have mostly medium-thick strands, but I do get those super coarse ones and I always think, man if I could have more of those, I'd have more volume. I have some finer ones on the edges, and probably even within the thick of my hair depending on how much I stress. And I have some reddish hairs, some golden, and even a few blondes mixed into my dark brown hair. And that's not from the henna, that's just me. Our mixture of genes, I guess right!! But it's so annoying, cuz people say man you have such thick hair. But then I think yeah, but so few of them. My part, whereever you make it, is like double-wide!! I hate that, but oh well what to do! But my husband says I have like four hairs sometimes coming out of one pore, but it still doesn't give me tons of hair!

I put about a tablespoon of lemon juice half expensive conditioner and half suave to make about a half cup and i put it everywhere and leave it on for about 3 minutes and rinse with cold water. I did feel a little itch at first but it goes away. I do have to spray my hair with water the next day and scrunch with gel or leave in but before lemon juice i couldnt even do that because i would turn into a frizz ball no matter what i did. This is my 2nd day hair. I think it looks a little curlier and fuller than before lemon juice. What do you think?

Oh yeah girl. you've got major curl going on. I love how you have it from the root. Why do you think you're a 2?? I think you' look like a three. I love the definition. You obviously have some gel or something in there, right?? Also, when you spray with water for second day, do you add more gel if you have some from the previous day?? I always hate reapplying, but spraying with water doesn't do it for me, I get frizz too. If I want second day hair, I really need to like soak it. But awesome curl!! Jealous, eh?

My routine right now goes as follows:
Co wash with suave aloe or clarifying conditioner once or twice
(massage the roots everywhere, i flip my head over to get the back of the head)

Rinse with yes to carrots nourishing or avalon nourishing lavender mixed with the suave and lemon juice. (I finger comb my hair when i rinse it out)

Apply Giovanni direct leave in everywhere because i get frizz everywhere and scrunch. (i added a little pure Moroccan argan oil to the bottle that i purchased on ebay)

Apply la looks hair gel perfect polish everywhere and scrunch some more. If i plan to keep my bangs straight i try not to put a lot of gel on them.

I scrunch more with a tshirt until hair is just damp. If i have to head out soon I'll use the hair dryer with the diffuser on med heat med speed. I target the roots first with my head flipped over and then the ends. Then i clip my roots on top until I'm ready to head out.

It might look like a long routine but i feel decent enough to head out without damaging my hair by strengthening it which is what i used to do all the time. I wish i could just get out of the shower and leave but that's not the look i like i will look all day exactly like that like i just came out of the shower, no volume at all.

Sometimes I'll prepoo with evco/evoo because it's healthy for hair and i will also oil my scalp with a mix of oils that i found had hair growth properties all on the same day. This day instead of cowashing i will shampoo with Giovanni clarifying shampoo sulfate free. Coconut oil and olive oil penetrate the hairshaft so the shampoo helps on getting rid the oil that's on the surface of the hair so i don't look like a greaseball. I do this step when i know I'll be home for at least 4 hours or so. I would do it overnight but my son goes to school really early. For deep conditioners i don't use anything that takes too long i just use giovanni avocado and Giovanni protein. They both come in tubes and you only leave them on while you're in the shower. I just replace the regular rinse out for these when i do them. Sometimes i will prepoo with mayo with one egg added.

Lol i did put hair gel for hold but that hair gel doesn't stay crunchy which i like because when my hair is crunchy it tends to get stuck everywhere and i can hear it breaking especially when my kids hug me and stuff. I don't like reapplying either because it's work but it's better than doing the wholeee process all over again lol. The reason i thought i was a 2 was because i never had real curls even if i tried but my hair wasn't straight either. This routine has definitely transformed my hair. And thank you

No you sound like you've got a good routine and you take better care of your hair than me. I don't sleep with a pineapple because it hurts my scalp, I just do a low pony every day and then either braid the length of do another scrunch to keep it in place because my kids always sleep with me and pull hairs out. I know, I hate crunch because I hear the break as well. I like how your hair separates into lots of separate curls, not big ones, without you having to comb. We really seem like hair twins that's for sure. Except that I don't get root volume, but by hair density and porosity and such, we're the same. and definitely you not having much volume must be from only doing cowashes, that's why. I tried that for a while, but man, no my hair was just flat, that's why I do lowpoos, but if you're getting good curls, with cowashes, keep it up. Let me know if the lemon juice in the conditioner on the scalp gives you any problems. THat is a really good thing for the scalp. I have scalp issues, which is why I stick to lowpoo. I had more hair shed when I used conditioner on my scalp and it was hard to make sure I got it all rinsed out well enough. I love using oil on my scalp as well, but I hate having to put on harshes shampoos to get it out. It's almost like for me it's a lose-lose situation, because yes I give it more moisture, but then I strip it anyways. Castor oil, man I'd love to try that but I heard it's demon to get out. I hate putting mixes in my hair, like with mayo because it's so messy, but yeah i was using a deep conditioner that came out of a tube, I forget the name but I just used it for the time I was in the shower like you said. I hate the whole shower cap thing, walking around my house in a towel for an hour. I do want to try mango and olive oil sometime, though, I heard it is really good for the hair. What's your secret for getting curl at the root. Did you have it before you started doing the CG thing?? Or is it the clips? I try clips, but for me I was freaking out about pulling on hairs when I tried to get them out, and such. I always grab some frizzed hair next to the clip and I need to keep every hair on my head intact if possible!!

I used to sleep with a bonnet but it would make my head sweaty so i only use it when I'm close to washing my hair. What do you use for lowpoo I'm not exactly sure what that means but i do use the giovanni clarifying sulfate free shampoo about once every 2 or 3 cowashes and i still don't see a difference in volume. The oil i use for my scalp i mainly use it to see if my hair grows quicker. Its basically a mix or half jojoba half castor oil with essential oils like Rosemary clary sage clove and lavender. I haven't measured my hair yet because i keep forgetting but i think it looks a little longer. And like i said with the Giovanni shampoo my hair looks pretty clean but not dry at all.As for the curl on my root i think it started happening little by little after i started doing cowashing but now with the lemon juice the curls look like they are higher on the roots. I think you're right. The cowashing was probably weighting my hair down but the lemon juice clears it right out and gives me good volume. The only time i saw my hair this curly (long long time ago) was when i use to saturate it with hair gel mousse and freeze ease hahaha. And this messed up my hair so badddd. The clips on the roots are a huge help i think. I use 6 medium sized ones. 3 go on top of the head one behind the other one and the other 3 on the sides. I pull some hair but i don't break it. If i had them all the same color i could probably get away with going out with them on. I'll take a picture next time i do it. How long is your hair? Can you put pictures if it loose when you can?

That's so crazy that we both can't do pineapples. But now you've got me so interested, how and what clip do you use to put your hair up at night?? I would love to do that. PICS PLEASE. Deal: You put pics up or your nighttime routine and I"ll put pics up on my hair when it's wavy and done up, probably on Sunday cuz I won't be doing my hair for anything until then. And yes, they love to grab stray hairs no, the kids, and pull them in every direction. My little girl cut my hair once when I was sleeping and filled a ziploc bag full of my hair. :-) I can only laugh now. The Giovanni stuff you use is a lowpoo, because a lowpoo is one without sulfates. So you're right on if that works for you. With castor oil, do you struggle to get it out of your hair?? I so want to try it but people say it's so hard to get out of the hair and that you have to put shampoo on your dry hair first to get it out and that scared me. Do you have to put two doses of shampoo to get it out or anything?? Now I want to try! And yes, put pics up of your clips for the roots. I just hate pulling my hair cuz my scalp is so sensitive that it hurts for hours afterwards, when I pull ion just a few hairs. I'd love to cowash if it would give me root curl, but I'd rather have no root curl and not have the hair shed from conditioner on my scalp. But I'm very tempted to try it with lemon juice, very!! But after I try the oil and the lowpoo to get it out. That's got me more interested! So pics from you and pics from me on Sunday, sale?? Cuidate!

The reason i mixed it was because it was so thick that it was hard to get it down to the scalp with the applicator bottle (that i got at a beauty supply) when my hair was dry. I would have to part my hair and that took too long. With the jojoba, the mix is thinner so i just go around the scalp as if i was tracing circles and then massage. I think it would be ok to just mix it with evoo.as well. Jojoba is too expensive but i had it sooo... As for my nightime routine i basically grab the length of my hair as if i was going to twist it but i don't twist it. I just put it up so i basically fold it but don't put it up too tight because that can flatten it out and give me headaches. I'll be posting a picture of the clip or whatever the name is. I have them in all sizes. I use the large one for night time and the medium ones for the roots. As for the hair shed I've been shedding a lot even before i went cg so i can't tell the difference. It's probably normal since we're supposed to shed 100 hairs a day so that would be 700 hairs a week and if your hair is long it might look like you're shedding a lot but you're not. I'm not too worried because my hair looks the same and i don't see any bald spots. When i cowash i make sure i put enough friction on the scalp to clear the pores and sometimes i cowash twice before i put the rinse out conditioner because i like the clean feeling. If my hair looks weighted down when its dry i know its time for a low poo the next time. As for root curl my curls are not up to my roots but they seem to be going up the further in I'm into taking better care of my hair. I never did before so i really don't know how curly my hair is. My sisters hair is almost straight but my brothers hair (he has really long hair) is about a 3a. We have a mix in my family from kinky to straight so it's was very hard to tell what my hair was or is. I'm just going with the flow to see my curl potential. De donde eres? Yo soy de Puerto Rico.
